Running Accomplishments:

I have completed 13 marathons, 13 half marathons and a variety of shorter distances.  My PR in the marathon is now 4:11:44, December 2009.  I finished my last half on October 30, 2010 and set a new PR by 48 seconds with a time of 1:53:48. Next race: Athens Half Marathon- Sunday, October 21st.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I would love to improve my times without stressing too much on race day.  I would like to become a fitter and stronger runner.

Next Half Marathon:  Silver Comet Half Marathon on Saturday, October 30th. Completed: Time of 1:53:48 PR!

Next Marathon: Soldier Marathon in Columbus, GA on Saturday, November 12th.  Completed: Time of 4:16:58
(better than last year)

Long-Term Running Goals:

It would be pretty awesome to qualify for Boston, and I am now closer than I was before, but I still  have to knock just over 25 minutes off my time.

Personal:

I am married, no kids, two dogs.  I am a schoolteacher who moved in June 2009 from Florida to Georgia.

It was so nice to sleep in and then go for my run.  It was a tad warm when I got started, but not too bad.  I decided to run with my music, which was a nice change of pace.  I completed just over 7 miles and felt pretty good all the way through.

I ran after work today so that I could get some extra sleep.  My legs felt a bit tired, which has been common for me when running at this point of the day.  I felt okay and tried to push myself a bit.  It was still a slow run, but I was able to pick up the pace for the last mile.

I was back at the gym this morning after a not so great night's sleep.  Amazingly, I had a pretty decent run.  It helped that I didn't need to stop to blow my nose or use the bathroom.  It took a couple of miles for me to get to a 10:00 minute mile, but once I got there, I held that pace for miles 3 and 4.  I took mile 5 up to a 9:50 pace and then continually sped up every .2 of a mile for mile 6.  It felt good.

I did not sleep well last night as my nerves got the best of me.  I am scheduled to get some test results at work today that are a pretty big deal.  Amazingly, I did have a good run at the gym.  I started running at my normal pace, which felt slow.  I was at a 10:00 minute mile by the start of mile 2 and a 9:50 pace by mile 3.  I took it up again by mile 5 and then really picked up the pace by the start of mile 6.   I was able to finish my workout in just under an hour.

I ran with friends again this morning.  Today was very similar to last Saturday, cool weather and a relaxed run.  I ran the first 7.6 miles with my friend and then finished the last 2.4 on my own.  It was a great way to start the weekend.

Nothing like sleeping in and then going for a run.  It was a little toasty out by the time I got started, but it wasn't too bad.  I felt alright, only feeling a little tired by the last couple of miles.  My headphones were also bothering me as I chose to run with some musicI felt good when I got home.

I ran outside after work this afternoon.  My legs didn't feel as heavy as they have in the past, but I wouldn't call them light either.  I did feel the need to slow down to a walk on a few occasions, but it would only be for a few seconds at a time.  I felt decent when all was said and done.

I was back at the gym this morning, feeling a bit tired.  I was able to get to a 10:00 minute pace by the start of mile 2, which was good.  I slowly picked up the pace either every or every other mile.  I really worked it the last mile, getting as fast as a 9:13 pace.  Besides the fatigue, I did want to mention that it felt very warm in the gym this morning.  I was sweating bullets not long after I finished the first mile.

I was back at the gym this morning.  I was tired and felt kind of blah.  Fortunately, these feelings did not follow me onto the treadmill as my legs wanted to move.  I was at a 10:00 minute mile by the start of mile 2 and took it up every mile thereafter.  I finished my workout in just under an hour, which is good considering the way I have been running the past couple of months.

I ran by myself this morning, since my running buddies were out of town.  My knees were a bit achy, but overall things went fine.  I ran my harder of the two runs that I do.  I needed to challenge myself a bit.  It was a smart move as I felt really good when I was done.  The weather was also mild, which helped.  This was a nice way to cap off a week of running.

My husband and I were woken up multiple times last night with a sick dog.  Fortunately, he is now feeling better.  I did mange to get some sleep in between wake up calls.  After sleeping in and taking the dogs for a walk, I got my iPod on and headed out the door.  The air was a tad cool, which was nice.  I felt pretty good and maintained about 10:30 pace throughout.  Once again, no record times here, but it was nice to run well.

I ran after work today so that I could get the extra sleep this morning.  I knew that there was a chance that I could be rained on, but it was one worth taking.  I was rained on, right from the start.  Fortunately, it was not a heavy rain at all.  It turned out to be a nice run.  I was probably rained on for at least the first couple of miles, but it didn't bother me.  I finished my run in just under an hour and 32 minutes, which I was happy about.

I had what turned out to be a pretty good run at the gym this morning. As usual, I felt tired at the start, but got to my 10:00 minute/ mile pace by the start of mile 2.  I picked up the pace almost every mile thereafter and finished at under a 9:00 minute/ mile pace.  It was a nice way to start the day!

I had a nice run today with my friend.  We just ran and talked, something we both needed and wanted to do. There was a slight bit of coolness to the air, which made for a nice morning to run.

It was nice to sleep in this morning and still get a run in before it became to hot outside.  I decided to bring the music with me, although for the first 3 miles or so it did little to distract me from my mind.  Once I did try and regain my focus, I came across a loose dog that I have seen before.  I came close (again) to bringing her home with me.  Some people just don't deserve to have a pet.  I felt pretty good running for at least the first 5 miles.  After that, my legs did start to feel a bit tired.

I decided to run from home this morning instead of this afternoon since I did not feel the need to get to work until a bit later than normal.  With the sun rising early, I also felt safer to run early.  The weather was mild, which was nice.  I only came across one other person exercising this morning.  It was really a nice morning for a run.  My time was still pretty blah, but I felt pretty good throughout my run.

I woke up after having a lousy night of sleep.  Granted, this may have had something to do with the fact that I had fallen asleep on the couch for most of a 3-hour period.  Anyway, I got up this morning at 5:15am and chose to run outside instead of the gym to take advantage of the weather and early sunlight.  My sleeping in period will begin in a couple of days, therefore I wanted to take advantage of having to get up early.  My run was about 20-30 seconds slower than yesterday.  I was also wearing my glasses again, which didn't help the situation.

Today was my second full day off now that I am done with school for the summer.  I, of course, slept in and walked the dogs before heading out for my run.  Fortunately, we had a bunch of rain the night before, which meant we still had some cloud cover, which kept things a tad cooler.  My legs were a bit tired at first, but they eventually warmed up.  My time was once again nothing to write home about, but I did complete my goal for the day of 6 miles.

I got to run with friends again on this Saturday morning. Today was my day to listen and be a good friend.  My group all finished at 8 miles and went to breakfast.  I chose to run two more miles and then head home.  I am glad that I did it and met my goal for the week of 35 miles.  It was funny, everyone kept saying how humid it was, but I didn't notice it that much.  I think that I am still used to Florida summers where you can taste the air when it is so humid.

I slept in again this morning.  By the time I got up and walked the dogs with my husband, it was already close to 10:00am.  It is starting to get too warm to head outside at this hour for a run.  I felt pretty good out there.  I just tried to enjoy my music and the run.  I wasn't sure if I would make it to 7 miles when I got started, but I knew that I felt alright to do it at around the 4.5 - 5 miles in.

It was hotter today than it was yesterday.  I would say that it was in upper 70's/ low 80's when I got out there ( the downside of sleeping in).  I didn't necessarily feel bad, but I was a bit sluggish.  I was ready to be done when I hit the 6 mile mark.

I was back at the gym this morning after a good week and a half of not running there.  It was a nice change of scenery, although it was warm there, but not nearly as warm as it is outside.  The good thing about running at the gym is that my pace is faster.  I was up to a 10:00 minute mile by the start of mile 2 and continued to increase after that.

 I concluded my workout by adding in 6 sets of abs, something I have not done in quite a while.
