Running Accomplishments:

I have completed 13 marathons, 13 half marathons and a variety of shorter distances.  My PR in the marathon is now 4:11:44, December 2009.  I finished my last half on October 30, 2010 and set a new PR by 48 seconds with a time of 1:53:48. Next race: Athens Half Marathon- Sunday, October 21st.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I would love to improve my times without stressing too much on race day.  I would like to become a fitter and stronger runner.

Next Half Marathon:  Silver Comet Half Marathon on Saturday, October 30th. Completed: Time of 1:53:48 PR!

Next Marathon: Soldier Marathon in Columbus, GA on Saturday, November 12th.  Completed: Time of 4:16:58
(better than last year)

Long-Term Running Goals:

It would be pretty awesome to qualify for Boston, and I am now closer than I was before, but I still  have to knock just over 25 minutes off my time.

Personal:

I am married, no kids, two dogs.  I am a schoolteacher who moved in June 2009 from Florida to Georgia.

I ran my typical run at the gym this morning.  I felt a bit tired, but not too bad.  I was up to a 10:00 minute mile by the start of mile 2.  By mile 4, I took it up to a 9:50, mile 5 was a 9:40 and then the final mile was at a 9:30 pace.  The only issue I had was once again with the nose.  I should get some stock in Kleenex.

I ran after work so that I could sleep in this morning.  As usual, my legs were a bit tired.  I decided to run miles 3 and 4 a bit harder in preparation for a 10k that I am doing this weekend.  Unfortunately, they were not close to race pace as I ran them in 9:13 and 9:11.  Overall though, I did complete my 7 miles in 1:09:40, which is just under a 10:00 mile.

I was back at the gym this morning.  I felt tired, but outside of using a lot of Kleenex, everything went fine.  I was at a 10:00 minute mile by the start of mile 2 and was up to a 9:50 mile by mile 2.5.  I reached a 9:40 mile by mile 5 and then finished mile 6 at a 9:30 pace.  I finished my workout with 5 sets of core work.

It was cold and wet for today's 10K.  Fortunately, I still managed to PR!  I finished the race in 52:06 (unofficially), which was about a minute and a half faster than the last 10K that I did, which was a 1 1/2 years ago. It rained on us the entire time.  The good thing was that the race didn't start until 10:00 am, which meant I could sleep in.  Based on the course map, the first half would contain the hills, which was accurate.  They weren't horrible, but I definitely felt as though I was breathing harder.  By the second half, I told myself just to try and pick up the pace since it would be either mostly flat or downhill from here.  I did just that.  The only downside, was that this girl passed at the very end.  I am making myself feel better by reminding myself that I was a lot older than her.  It took a while for the race people to place my name on the board for 3rd place in my age group.  I waited around for the awards ceremony only to find out they were only giving out awards to the top winners in each group.  It would have been nice to know that ahead of time as I was cold and had somewhere to be that afternoon.  It was a good race day and I am happy!

I ran at the gym this morning.  Everything went fine.  I was a bit tired, but not too bad.  Today is going to be a very long day as we have our first track meet of the season this evening.

I ran at the gym this morning instead of running from home this afternoon due to a high chance of rainy weather this afternoon.  My body, specifically my legs were very tired after not getting home from last night's track meet until almost 8:30pm.  I am glad that I chose not to wait until after work since it was cold and lightly raining.  I was also quite tired.

I was back at the gym this morning to become one with the treadmill.  I was tired, but my run went alright.  I needed to stop after 6 miles because I still had some work to finish before school.

Unfortunately, I had to go into work today, due to the snow days that we had back in January.  To get my 10 miles in, I had to get outside just before 6:00am to get back in time.  Fortunately, I only had to run in the dark for at the most, a couple of miles.  It was quite cold, as the temperatures were back in the mid-30's.  I felt pretty good, even though my time doesn't reflect that as I finished in over an hour and 51 minutes.  Due to the cold, I once again became one with my tissues.

I finally had the opportunity to sleep in this morning.  My husband and I went to see Rick Springfield last night, which was fun, but between the concert and daylight savings time beginning, I didn't get out the door until after 11:00am.  My run went fine, but time just seemed to get away from me.  My goal was 10 miles, since we have our next track meet this Saturday and I am not sure if I would be able to get the mileage in.

I had an awful day at work today.  I made myself run this afternoon to help reduce my stress.  My run was not very good, but it was still better than not running at all.  I ran outside now that it doesn't get dark until at least 7:30 pm.

I was at the gym for 6 miles this morning.  Since I am writing this two days after the fact, I don't remember too much about it outside of being drained from the day before.  This run was definitely better than the one from Monday night.

This run was definitely better than the two previous day's runs.  I ran after work in beautiful weather.  I didn't get started until almost 6:00pm, but I felt pretty good.  It took a couple of miles for me to loosen up the legs, but other than that I was alright out there.  I finished in just under 1:13:30.

It was so nice to sleep in, but I was still exhausted when I got up.  I made myself get out of bed by 9:00am since I had a busy day ahead of me.  My plan was to get 10 miles in, which I am very happy to report, I was able to do.  I felt decent throughout as I was mentally trying to relax, listen to my music and figure out how I was going to handle some additional stuff for work.  I was not looking forward to having to work again today as I hadn't had a day off since last Sunday.  The arch in my right foot continued to bother me as I really must have irritated it after being on my feet all day yesterday at the track meet.  I noticed it early on yesterday and just never went away.

I ran after work and unfortunately, it was not a very good run.  I felt much better than I did a week ago at this time, but I was so tired.  I could feel it, especially during those first couple of miles.  My mood was fine, my body was just pooped.  I also didn't get started until 6:30 pm, which was much later than I would have preferred.

I went to the gym this morning as I usually do on Tuesday.  The arch on my right foot was continuing to bother me.  I felt it more today while exercising than I have ever before.  Running on it flat out hurt.  Since I was up and at the gym, I decided to walk.  After mile 1, I tried to run again, but to no avail.  At the start of mile 4 (and after a quick bathroom break), I decided to try running again one more time.  This time it wasn't too bad, although I did notice.  I was running at a very slow pace,but I thought that it was better than not running.  My plan is to try again tomorrow afternoon.

WALKING MILES!  I had an awful day at work.  When I got home, I walked my dogs with my husband and then went out for my run.  Unfortunately, the running part did not happen.  My body did not want to run.  Outside of a few downhills, it just did not happen.  Even though walking is not the same, the walk was definitely good.  It didn't clear my head, but I was able to relax a little bit.

I was back at the gym this morning and thankfully, able to run.  My body felt much better than it did the other day.   My pace was slower than normal, but at least I was running.  I really feel that this helped me have a better day at work mentally.

It was cold and wet outside so I decided to join my husband at the gym.  I ran while he pumped up.  It took me a little bit to get going, but once I did I was fine.  I finished running when his workout ended, which took me to 7 miles.

I ran after work this afternoon.  It was cold and wet outside, but I needed to run, so I got myself out there after track practice.  It was slow, but effective.  I dressed as though it was winter again, running in a sweatshirt and earband to go along with the running tights.  The only concern that I had was after a very classy air hanky, I noticed that my nose bled just a bit.  This is probably the 3rd time that this has happened in the past week.  I am assuming that it is stress related and if so, it should stop after tomorrow afternoon.  I will monitor it and hope for the best.

For a moment, I didn't know if I was going to get all 6 miles in, but I pushed through and made it.  I really wanted to get this in as I knew that I was going to have a stressful day ahead of me.  I worked out at the gym.  I definitely ran slower than I have been, but I was just happy to be running.

I ran with my students this afternoon at track practice.  We had practice over at the local high school.  I ran with my distance runners.  We completed three laps of .9 miles.  Because I was working, I did slow down to get runners that were walking and run with those that needed the extra push.
