Running Accomplishments:

I have completed 13 marathons, 13 half marathons and a variety of shorter distances.  My PR in the marathon is now 4:11:44, December 2009.  I finished my last half on October 30, 2010 and set a new PR by 48 seconds with a time of 1:53:48. Next race: Athens Half Marathon- Sunday, October 21st.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I would love to improve my times without stressing too much on race day.  I would like to become a fitter and stronger runner.

Next Half Marathon:  Silver Comet Half Marathon on Saturday, October 30th. Completed: Time of 1:53:48 PR!

Next Marathon: Soldier Marathon in Columbus, GA on Saturday, November 12th.  Completed: Time of 4:16:58
(better than last year)

Long-Term Running Goals:

It would be pretty awesome to qualify for Boston, and I am now closer than I was before, but I still  have to knock just over 25 minutes off my time.

Personal:

I am married, no kids, two dogs.  I am a schoolteacher who moved in June 2009 from Florida to Georgia.

After a long day of work the day before, I was definitely tired this morning.  I felt pretty good considering.  I was able to maintain my regular pace, which made me happy.

I woke up this morning planning on meeting my friends, but with awful weather in the area, that didn't quite happen.  After a few texts and hearing more rain falling, I decided to work for awhile and hoped the weather would clear up.  After finishing Thursday's lesson plans and starting Friday's, I noticed that the rain had lightened and decided to take my chances.  I lucked out as it still was raining, but never was hit with the bad storms that I was concerned about.  The rain did pick up by the last mile and mother nature was calling so I decided to stop when I did.  I was fine with it as the weather had been atrocious.  I was happy to get it in and not have to run at the gym.

With my husband not feeling well, I decided to get up this morning and get out a bit earlier than usual for a Sunday.  It was sunny and cold, plus a bit windy, but it wasn't bad.  I was happy to get 8 in as I have been only running around 7 on Sundays.  My pace was typical, as I was around the 10:30+ mark.  Not great, but tolerable.

Usually, I feel pretty good on Monday mornings, but today wasn't one of them.  I was definitely tired.  Fortunately, I was able to get through my run without any issues.  I was able to finish my 6 in under an hour.

After taking yesterday off, I was back at the gym today.  I felt decent and was able to complete my distance on the treadmill in under an hour.

Usually by Thursday I am feeling pretty beat up, but I woke up feeling better than I thought.  My run on the treadmill felt good.  I was done in under an hour.

My friend was kind enough to meet me at 6:oo am since I am catching a flight out of town early this afternoon.  After not running together last weekend, it was so nice to get together.  We both needed to vent and run.  It worked out well for both of us.

WALKING MILES.  I walked these miles with my brother and his dog.  My niece did join us for the first mile, but my sister-in-law had to pick her up (she is only 4 1/2).  The route was hilly and it was cold.  It was a nice change from the usual plan.

After a good nights sleep, I headed out for my run near my parent's house in New York.  It was a bit cold out, but nice.  I was able to run an out and back that kept me on the sidewalks and out of the traffic.  I finished in 58:07, which I was very happy about, given that I usually only run that pace on the treadmill.

I was back out running by my parent's house this morning.  It was wet this morning as I ran my route from yesterday. I finished in 59:23, which I was still happy about.

After flying back from New York, I slept in this morning as the sleep was definitely needed.  After walking the dogs, I hit the pavement.  Unfortunately, my times were back to where they were when I left.  My typical run by my house is hillier than the one I ran by my parent's house the past two days, but I also noticed that I did slow to a walk multiple times.  They weren't long breaks, but breaks nonetheless.  As usual, I did finish, therefore, I am content.

I slept in once again and hit the payment after walking the dogs.  It was beautiful outside.  I was able to finish about 30 seconds faster than yesterday.  My legs are a bit tired and are looking forward to taking tomorrow off.

I met my friends this morning as we usually do on Saturday morning.  It was very mild out as we ran part of the new Athens Half Marathon course.  It was a nice change from our regular run.  We liked most of the new course as well.

We slept in this morning.  We walked the dogs before I was able to head out.  I felt a bit lightheaded prior to starting, but I felt fine during my run.  My pace was slow, but I was happy to get beyond 6 miles.

Due to scheduling issues, I chose to run a double today.  I got up at my normal time and went to the gym.  I struggled a bit at the start as I am not feeling 100%.  I did manage to finish the first 6 miles under an hour as I really pushed myself through the last mile, taking the pace to an 8:34 mile by the end.

I ran the second 6 after work.  I got myself out of the classroom by 4:15pm and after a stop at the store, got myself home and back at the door.  It was warm outside with temperatures in the low to mid 80's.  Between the heat and mainly my tired legs, I struggled through this run.  I definitely walked a bit as the hills seemed like mountains.  I am happy to get it done, but really need to consider if this is worth doing again or racking it up to my first double in I don't know how long.

I went to the gym this morning hoping to run, but had to walk.  I have developed allergies that have brought on a cough.  This could brings up nastiness when I run, therefore, running inside did not work.  I attempted it twice, but would have stop and slow down to a walk.  I chose to walk at a 4 mph for most of the time, increasing it just a bit towards the end.  I also increased the incline to 1.5 and then 2.  It wasn't running, but at least I was able to do something.

My friends and I met this morning for our weekly Saturday run.  I wasn't sure if I would even be able to run after Thursday's incident.  Fortunately, I was able to run and could clear my throat and lungs when necessary outside.  At one point we considered stopping after 7 miles as allergy season was also affecting my friend, but then we chose to stick it our for one more mile.  I felt a bit more tired than usual, which I am attributing to the allergies.

By the time I was able to get out for my run, my energy felt sapped.  I decided to run after walking my dogs with my husband.  There was a gap of almost an hour from the time I was ready to the time we got back.  I was definitely slow moving and was dealing with the nose and lungs again needing to be cleared.  It took until about the halfway point, before I felt like I was in somewhat of a groove and not ready to stop at a moments notice.  At one point I thought that I would only make it through 6, therefore I am happy with the end result.

I ran a double today.  I figured that while I was motivated that I should go for it.  It worked out better today than it did last Monday.  My pace on the second run still wasn't anything to write home about, but I didn't feel as beat up.  I ran as usual at the gym for run #1.  I got home later than I was planning for run #2, but got myself out the door.

My regular running buddy was not able to join me this morning, so I ran with one of the others.  It was a nice change, but different not having my friend there.  I did enjoy myself running the first 8 together and then running the last two on my own.  I was happy to get back up to 35 miles for the week.
