| Location: Athens,GA,USA Member Since: Apr 26, 2009 Gender: Female Goal Type: Boston Qualifier Running Accomplishments: I have completed 13 marathons, 13 half marathons and a variety of shorter distances. My PR in the marathon is now 4:11:44, December 2009. I finished my last half on October 30, 2010 and set a new PR by 48 seconds with a time of 1:53:48. Next race: Athens Half Marathon- Sunday, October 21st. Short-Term Running Goals: I would love to improve my times without stressing too much on race day. I would like to become a fitter and stronger runner.
Next Half Marathon: Silver Comet Half Marathon on Saturday, October 30th. Completed: Time of 1:53:48 PR!
Next Marathon: Soldier Marathon in Columbus, GA on Saturday, November 12th. Completed: Time of 4:16:58 (better than last year) Long-Term Running Goals: It would be pretty awesome to qualify for Boston, and I am now closer than I was before, but I still have to knock just over 25 minutes off my time. Personal: I am married, no kids, two dogs. I am a schoolteacher who moved in June 2009 from Florida to Georgia.

| Today was my first time exercising in almost two weeks. It was only walking, but it felt so good to get moving. It has been 6 days since my outpatient surgery. The doctor said that I can get back to my normal routine when I feel ready. I still don't feel 100%, but I felt like a short walk would be a good idea. |

| I was able to get up this morning and walk 2.3 miles outside. It was nice to be out there on my feet. For some reason, I still don't feel ready to run yet. Hopefully, I will be able to try and run this Saturday. |

| Today was the first time that I have run in 2 1/2 weeks. I ran the first mile without stopping, run/ walked mile 2 and then walked the last 5. It was nice to be outside getting some distance in, even though it was mostly walking. I finally felt a bit like my old self. I am still dealing with my medical issue. I plan on heading back to the doctor next week to see why I am not completely healed. It has been 1 1/2 weeks since I had outpatient surgery. |

| I tried running again this morning, but I was not as successful as I was yesterday. I barely made it a 1/4 of a mile before I needed to walk. I was running up a slight hill near my house like I normally do, but I just felt winded. I run/ walked mile 1 and walked the last 3 for the most part. I finished the first 4 miles in an hour, which is good for walking, it just doesn't feel the same as running. I know that this is going to take time. I also know that I still need to see my doctor since something still isn't right. |

| I decided to get up and go to the gym this morning. I am so sick of not feeling like myself and have found that walking makes me feel a bit better, although it is nothing like running. |

| Today is the first day of my winter break. It was cold and oh, so windy. After taking my dogs on a short walk, I decided to get the iPod out and go walking. It felt good, although it was really windy out there. I completed 3.1miles and was content. It took me a bit longer than I hoped, finishing in just over 50 minutes. |

| It was freezing this morning, but thankfully sunny with a lack of wind. My fingers hurt for at least 3-4 miles, even with gloves on. I was hoping for at least 7, but was very happy to complete 8. I walked the first mile on my own, and then met up with a friend of mine who ran a few miles before I got there. It would be nice to run, but medically it is still not in my best interest. Hopefully, I will be back to running soon. I was hoping that the new medication that I am on would help, but I don't think that it is working like it should be. I guess this means that I will continue to be a walker until I can do more. |

I met up with my group this morning for our annual Tingle Jingle 5k. This is not an official race, but just annual get together just before the Christmas holiday. Unfortunately, it was cold and raining. It was tolerable to run in, but I would have been soaked if I had walked in it. Instead, I walked up and down one of the nearby parking decks a couple of times, about 6 levels. We were also meeting there when everyone got back for a warm drink and a snack.
Since I was unable to get my walk in as I had hoped for, I went to the gym with my husband in the early afternoon. I walked while he pumped up. It was only a couple of miles, but it was better than nothing. |

| It felt good to get outside and walk. As usual I needed the exercise. I felt really good them entire time. I go back to my doctor tomorrow and will hopefully be given the okay to start running again. |

| I finally got the okay to run yesterday from my doctor. It went better than I anticipated. I thought that I would run part of the first couple of miles and then would have to walk the rest. I was able a good part of each mile, averaging about 12:30 minute/ miles. I walked the hills and anytime I felt as though I needed to walk (it was only 32 degrees, therefore I needed to catch my breath at times). I listened to my music and just tried to enjoy this experience. Hopefully, I will be able to do the same tomorrow. |

| I met up with a couple of friends for my first attempt at a long run in over a month. I made it through most of the first 6 miles with just a bit of walking here and there, mainly when I felt tired. We then walked the last couple of miles. I felt really good about how I did. Needless to say, I was not worried about pace at all, just about being able to run. |

| It was cold this morning, therefore our late start getting up was a good thing. I had the layers on, which was needed as the temperatures were in the low 30's, thankfully the sun was out. I averaged about 12 minute miles, which given my time off, I was happy. I definitely mixed the running and walking, especially on the hills. This was a nice way to kick off my week of running. |
