Running Accomplishments:

I have completed 13 marathons, 13 half marathons and a variety of shorter distances.  My PR in the marathon is now 4:11:44, December 2009.  I finished my last half on October 30, 2010 and set a new PR by 48 seconds with a time of 1:53:48. Next race: Athens Half Marathon- Sunday, October 21st.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I would love to improve my times without stressing too much on race day.  I would like to become a fitter and stronger runner.

Next Half Marathon:  Silver Comet Half Marathon on Saturday, October 30th. Completed: Time of 1:53:48 PR!

Next Marathon: Soldier Marathon in Columbus, GA on Saturday, November 12th.  Completed: Time of 4:16:58
(better than last year)

Long-Term Running Goals:

It would be pretty awesome to qualify for Boston, and I am now closer than I was before, but I still  have to knock just over 25 minutes off my time.

Personal:

I am married, no kids, two dogs.  I am a schoolteacher who moved in June 2009 from Florida to Georgia.

I was back at the gym this morning.  I took up the incline just a bit for either a mile or two (I can't remember how long) to get my legs ready for the 5k this Saturday.  I felt fine during the whole thing.

I felt pretty good considering the lack of sleep.  I was able to maintain my regular pace.  I will say that my legs did feel a bit tired when I was done.

I don't know what the real breakdown was, but I can tell you that this was a hilly 5K.  My legs were definitely tired.  I ran the first mile in 8:00, mile 2 in 8:25 and finished the last 1 + in 10:07.  I will say that my Garmin watch had a final distance of 3.26.  A friend of mine said that her watch also recorded the same distance.  I finished in the top 30%.  I was fine with the results and surprised by the 1st place finish.

Even though my legs were sore, I pushed myself out the door so that my schedule for the week wouldn't be thrown off.  I took it slow and tried to avoid some of the hillier spots.

Even though I was running on 5 hours of sleep, I felt good.  It probably had something to do with my Giants winning the Super Bowl last night (GO G-MEN!).  SportsCenter was great.

It was nice running with friends again after running the 5K last weekend.  It was one of those days where the temperature was actually slowly dropping throughout, therefore I was happy we ran when we did.  We ran the first 10 miles and walked the last mile.

There is nothing like running after a full night's sleep.  Once we walked the dogs, I was able to hit the streets.  It was quite cold, with temperatures were in the 20's.  I put on my music and just tried to enjoy myself.  I was very happy that I felt good enough to hit 8 miles.

Since we are furloughed from work today, I was able to sleep in and then go for my run.  It was quite cold out, but thankfully, it did warm up a tad as I was running.  It was sunny out and I just enjoyed the run with some music.  My minimum goal was six miles, so I am happy that I felt good enough to run the extra 1.2 miles.

After a lack of sleep, but run at the gym wasn't too bad.  I felt fine when I started, but mentally, I wasn't sure if I would get through all 6 miles.  Fortunately, I toughed it out and finished strong.

My regular running buddy couldn't join me this morning, so I ran with some of the others.  At times I was able to maintain thier pace, but I did fall behind on occasion.  I believe that I was under a 10 minute mile for the majority of our run.

It was a wet run this morning, with temps around 50 degrees.  I was able to get out the door by 7:45, mainly because I couldn't sleep (a lot is going at work).  I decided just to get up, eat and go.  It rained on me the entire team.  It was misty when I started, but turned into showers on multiple occasions.  Overall, I didn't mind it.  I was glad that I finished when I did, because I was really starting to feel my wet clothes.

I was back at the gym this morning and felt wiped out.  I worked until about 10:00 pm after being at work until 6:00pm.  I also didn't eat the proper mix of vegetables and carbohydrates that led to G.I. issues.  I was happy to make it through my six miles.

I felt better today than I did yesterday.  This made my run much easier.  I was able to pick up the pace as I normally do, but ran even faster for the last mile.

I was back running with my friend this morning.  It was so nice to be able to talk/ vent for the duration.  Our pace was a bit slower than normal, but I was happy to get the distance in.  I can always run faster on the other days.  This is the only day that I get to run with friends.

I didn't feel too tired this morning, which is always good.  I was able to run my 6 on the treadmill and even took it up for that last mile, getting down to an 8:30 pace for a brief time.
