Running Accomplishments:

I have completed 13 marathons, 13 half marathons and a variety of shorter distances.  My PR in the marathon is now 4:11:44, December 2009.  I finished my last half on October 30, 2010 and set a new PR by 48 seconds with a time of 1:53:48. Next race: Athens Half Marathon- Sunday, October 21st.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I would love to improve my times without stressing too much on race day.  I would like to become a fitter and stronger runner.

Next Half Marathon:  Silver Comet Half Marathon on Saturday, October 30th. Completed: Time of 1:53:48 PR!

Next Marathon: Soldier Marathon in Columbus, GA on Saturday, November 12th.  Completed: Time of 4:16:58
(better than last year)

Long-Term Running Goals:

It would be pretty awesome to qualify for Boston, and I am now closer than I was before, but I still  have to knock just over 25 minutes off my time.

Personal:

I am married, no kids, two dogs.  I am a schoolteacher who moved in June 2009 from Florida to Georgia.

It was a beautiful morning to run.  I didn't get out there until after 9:30 since we slept in and walked the dogs beforehand.  I was running slower than I realized. I picked up the pace midway, but then still managed to slow down.  Needless to say, I was happy that I made it to 7.5.  I did have an opportunity to try out new headphones, which actually stayed in.

Due to a day off, I was able to sleep in this morning and then go for my run.  On a positive note, it went better than yesterday.  It was a beautiful day and I just ran and enjoyed my music.

I chose to run a double today so that I could sleep until 6 instead of 4:15 tomorrow morning.  My first run at the gym went very well.  My legs felt light(ish) and I was able to finish strong.  Run number 2, not so much.  Once again, I was tired and my legs felt as though they were carrying extra weight.  I also am dealing with some shin pain, which felt fine during my run this morning, hurt all day when I was walking and then was still lingering for the pm run.  I will put some ice on it and hope for the best.

I had a really nice run this morning.  I was on my own as my friend was out of town for the holiday.  I slept in an hour later than usual, but still got out the door before my husband and the dogs were up.  I ran the hillier of my two main routes.  It has been at least a couple of months since I have run in this direction.  The weather was nice and cool.  I used the time to clear my head, which I was able to do.  I felt good and ran well, although my time didn't quite indicate that.

I was able to sleep in again this morning and go for my run post walking of the dogs with my husband.  I left the music at home again and just enjoyed the beautiful weather.  I felt alright, but once again my time was terrible.  I am not stressing about time as I am not training for anything.  Hopefully, it will improve soon.  At least it is better when I run at the gym.

I put in a double today so that I could sleep in an extra day this week.  My run this morning went very well.  I was able to get to my 10 minute/ mile pace after about 3/4 of a mile.  I also took up the incline to a 1.5 since I read yesterday via the discussion forum that it would help.  I then increased my pace every mile after that until the final mile, where I increased the pace every 2/10 of a mile.  I finished at at less than a 9:00 minute mile.

My second run was quite slow, although today's run was the best that I have felt on a day where I have run twice.  There was also a tailwind that probably didn't help.  My time just didn't reflect it.  I also brought my music with me.

I went to the gym this morning, but it wasn't open. I stayed for an additional 10 minutes, but still not open.  I decided to head home and run from there, but thought that running in the dark at 5:15 was not the smartest move in the world.  I go to the gym at that hour because of the dark.  I decided to ride our recumbent bike instead for an hour at level 6 out of 8 for 45 minutes of the hour.  The bike showed that I covered 10 miles, so I am listing my running miles as 5.

I was back running with my friend this morning.  It was a bit cool outside, but not bad.  Our run was slow, but I was able to pick it up for the last couple of miles.

I ran a double today so that I could once again sleep in an extra day this week.  My 6 mile run on the treadmill was very good as I was able to increase the incline to 1.5.

 My afternoon run wasn't as good, but it was better than my previous 2nd runs.  My time didn't indicate it, but overall I felt good.

I got to the gym a bit later than I planned and then managed to hit the emergency button that you can grab onto.  Between both issues, I was only able to get 5 miles in versus my typical 6.  If I am feeling good, I will try to make up the extra mile on Saturday.

I was able to meet my friends this morning for our Saturday run.  My main running buddy and I felt a tad sluggish.  We made it through 8 together and then I ran another 2 on my own.  I felt the need for the additional mileage.  The weather was mild and overcast, which definitely helped.

After a full night's sleep and family dog walk, I was able to get out for my run.  I did have to cut it a tad short since I was meeting a friend for lunch.  I felt decent and did try to push myself up the hills that I encountered.  I left the music at home and just tried to take in my surroundings.

I ran another double today.  My run at the gym went very well as I was able to keep my new pace and increase the incline.  I took the treadmill up to 2% for the last couple of miles, which felt fine.

My second run was after work.  I did not have a good feeling going in as I was feeling so tired after work and of course, my legs felt heavy.  I could have used a nap, but chose to head out the door after taking my dogs on a quick walk.  It wasn't pretty, but I did make it through.

I attempted to run at the gym this morning, but for the 2nd time in two weeks, it wasn't quite open.  After waiting for ten minutes, I decided to head home and run from there.  Since it was very early, I had my flashlight for those areas that did not have streetlights.  I was a bit uncomfortable during my first lap, but felt better during the second, third and final 9/10 of a mile.  I felt good running as I picked up the pace due to the darkness.  My main concern was feeling safe and after a bit, I was fine.

I went out to my regular Saturday location to run, but was on my own.  I knew that I would be, so I brought my music and enjoyed the flatter route (versus home).  I had a really good run.  I felt good and was able to take in the scenery of the area.  My pace wasn't as fast as I would have liked it, but it was definitely faster than I have been on most of the past Saturdays.

Today was a typical Sunday morning.  Slept in, walked the dogs, felt kind of tired again, and went for my run.  I was on a time limit this morning as my mother-in-law was coming to visit.  I was able to get in 6.2 miles, .8 short of my goal.  My plan is to make it up during the week.  I felt alright, although I did walk more than I wanted to.
