Running Accomplishments:

I have completed 13 marathons, 13 half marathons and a variety of shorter distances.  My PR in the marathon is now 4:11:44, December 2009.  I finished my last half on October 30, 2010 and set a new PR by 48 seconds with a time of 1:53:48. Next race: Athens Half Marathon- Sunday, October 21st.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I would love to improve my times without stressing too much on race day.  I would like to become a fitter and stronger runner.

Next Half Marathon:  Silver Comet Half Marathon on Saturday, October 30th. Completed: Time of 1:53:48 PR!

Next Marathon: Soldier Marathon in Columbus, GA on Saturday, November 12th.  Completed: Time of 4:16:58
(better than last year)

Long-Term Running Goals:

It would be pretty awesome to qualify for Boston, and I am now closer than I was before, but I still  have to knock just over 25 minutes off my time.

Personal:

I am married, no kids, two dogs.  I am a schoolteacher who moved in June 2009 from Florida to Georgia.

I ran outside before work this morning instead of going to the gym.  I am not sure if this was  a good idea or not, as I felt sluggish.  I was finally able to pick up the pace for the final 2.5 miles as I was able to change my route a bit.  I am looking forward to resting the legs for the next day or two.

My running buddy was unable to run this morning, so I ran with the other members of the group.  Things went well as I was able to maintain about a 10:00 minute pace.  I also went further than I planned, which made me feel good. Skies were overcast, which was great, until the rain came during the last 1 1/2 miles or so.

After getting in late last night and then being woken up by the dogs this morning, I decided to stay up and just get my run in.  It was overcast and not too humid, therefore, I felt that this was better than waiting until later.  My time wasn't good, but I did feel better as I went along.  I also enjoyed my music, which I don't bring with me too often.  My plan now is to nap sometime this afternoon.

It wound up being a nicer morning than I anticipated.  I ran with my running buddy for 10 miles and then we walked for a half a mile.  It was nice conversation that made the miles go by.

There was actually some cool air outside.  It would have been even better if I started earlier, but it still was a nice change.  Unfortunately, I wasn"t moving at a decent pace.  I slowly picked up the pace during the first four miles, but I slowed down for miles 5 and 6, then picked it up for the last mile.

I guess I am back to my normal routine.  I was at the gym by a little after 5:00am.  I felt decent on the treadmill, although I did feel a need for a walk break after almost each miles.  I finished in about 58 and a half minutes.

I was back at the gym this morning for another early morning run.  I definitely felt tired, feeling the need for a walk break after each of the first four miles.  Once again though, I was able to take up pace for the last couple of miles and of course, felt good when I was done.

I was back at the gym this morning for my run on the treadmill.  A part of me wanted to walk, but I knew that I would regret it.  I felt pretty decent, but did allow myself to walk at each mile when I needed to.

My plan was to run 10 miles this morning.  Unfortunately, due to exhaustion and cramps, my run was not pretty.  I really thought that I was going to have to walk a good chunck of it.  I did walk when my legs didn't want to move.  It took until at least mile 5 before I felt better.  I had to cap my mileage at 9 since we had someone coming to clean our carpets.

I woke up feeling really tired, which is typical for the middle of the week.  Fortunately, I made it through my third and final run at the gym this week.  I felt alright, a bit tired, but I was successful at completing my mileage for the day.

This was not what I would call a good run.  I and my running buddy were exhausted.  We mostly ran but there was a bit of walking.  We actually ran a good part of the Athens Half Marathon that is coming up in October.  I was quite happy to be done.

Thank goodness for Sundays.  This is the only day that I truly sleep in.  I made myself get up so that I could get my run in.  I was tempted to go back to work, but knew that I would be better off if I got my run in.  The run wasn't bad, but not great either.  I just tried to make the best of it and enjoy the cooler air (it wasn't really cool, but it was better than it has been).

I was back at the gym this morning, but feltt beat.  I kept thinking on the drive over that maybe I need to highly consider working out after work a couple of days a week.  I would get more sleep and would probably eat less later in the day.  It is something to consider again.  At the gym, I had an issue with my regular treadmill.  I beleive that the belt was replaced as it looked new.  Unfortunatlely, I started to hear a weird noise, close to mile 2, which then led to a burning smell.  When I finishes my second mile, I thought that it would be best to move to a different treadmill.  I almost stopped at 5 miles due to time, but chose to finish out my 6.

I was back at the gym this morning, this time with the beginnings of a cold. I felt the need to stop at every mile so that I could use a tissue.  I actually felt better than I expected, but did need to cut it short due to time.  I have a feeling that I am going to need to wake up a tad earlier to get my full run in.
