Running Accomplishments:

I have completed 13 marathons, 13 half marathons and a variety of shorter distances.  My PR in the marathon is now 4:11:44, December 2009.  I finished my last half on October 30, 2010 and set a new PR by 48 seconds with a time of 1:53:48. Next race: Athens Half Marathon- Sunday, October 21st.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I would love to improve my times without stressing too much on race day.  I would like to become a fitter and stronger runner.

Next Half Marathon:  Silver Comet Half Marathon on Saturday, October 30th. Completed: Time of 1:53:48 PR!

Next Marathon: Soldier Marathon in Columbus, GA on Saturday, November 12th.  Completed: Time of 4:16:58
(better than last year)

Long-Term Running Goals:

It would be pretty awesome to qualify for Boston, and I am now closer than I was before, but I still  have to knock just over 25 minutes off my time.

Personal:

I am married, no kids, two dogs.  I am a schoolteacher who moved in June 2009 from Florida to Georgia.

I ran a double today to help add in some extra mileage.  I ran 6 in the morning at the gym, which went fairly well.  Sportscenter kept me going as I finished in just over 59 minutes.  I then ran the other 3 after work.  I ran the first 1.75 with one dog, came home and took the other one out for the final 1 1/4 miles.  For small dogs, they each managed to give me the push I needed.

I was back at the gym this morning with a goal of 6 miles.  Fortunately, I was able to get the miles in, in under an hour.  I was tired, but it was still a nice way to start the day.

I hit 10 miles for the first time in quite a while.  It was a beautiful morning, albeit a bit cold when we started.  My goal was at least 9, therefore, I am happy that 10 felt decent.  I ran with my friend for the first 6 miles, which was nice, but a tad slow.  I then ran the final four on my own, but at this point it was a bit hard to pick up the pace.  I was able to take things up a notch for the last couple of miles. A nice wayy to start the day.

I was able to get up before the husband and dogs and go for my run.  The weather was a little cool, but nice.  Unfortuantely, my pace left little to be desired, but I made it through and picked up during the 2nd half.

I went to the gym this morning for my run.  I was tired, but once I got going, I felt alright.  I was able to run my normal pace, increasing the speed every mile, and then every 1/5 of a mile during mile 6.

Since I got home earlier than usual due to a doctor's appointment, I decided to take my dog's on a run.  I took my Rocky for about 1.8 miles and my Cuddles for 1.4.  Rocky was tired a bit earlier than normal, but Cuddles pushed me.  If I need to run after work, this was a nice way to do it.

I was back at the gym this morning, feeling a bit tired, but not bad.  I was able to get off to a decent start and then picked up my pace as I have been.  If you have to get up early, this is a nice way to start the day.

I knew prior to the race that this was probably not going to go well.  While I was warming up, I noticed that it wasn't taking much for me to feel out of breath.  This was a trail run with all but the first 1/4 of a mile on a single-wide trail.  It was a really nice run, but I felt worn out within the first mile ( you know it is not a good sign when you are looking at your watch within the 1st mile).  It turns out that my watch was not in sync with the race clock, therefore I felt as though it was taking me longer than I thought to finish the race.  My watch showed that I was at just over 2.5 miles when I got to the finish line.  The last part of the race wass uphill and I wussed out and walked a bit.  I wasn't upset with my finish as much as I was disappointed.

To put things in perspective, this was my first race since the end of October and the first since my miscarraige in November and second outpatient surgery that I had exactly one month ago.  I am still getting back into the swing of things and need to keep this in mind.  I would like to race again sometime soon, which I think is a good sign. 

Some positives from the race was that it was a really nice course, well run, the weather was gorgeous and they gave out great goody bags.

It was very blah outside today, but I was able to get up a decent hour as my husband and dogs slept in.  I started out slow, a bit sore from yesterday, but ran since I didn't feel that I deserved the day off. I was able to run a bit more fluidly for the last 2-3 miles. It was one of those mornings where I was happy to be done.

I am typing after just hearing news of the Boston Marathon tragedy.  For once, being slow isn't a bad thing.  I did learn that some people I knew from Florida were there, but are okay.

I ran 5 miles this morning at a slower than normal pace since I am still sore from Saturday (I am planning on going to take tomorrow off). My original plan was to go 6, but I had to get to work a bit earlier than normal (that didn't go as I planned either).

Tomorrow is a new day, and hopefully a much better one.

I was able to join a friend of mine for  6 miles this morning and then added an additional four once she and her daughter left.  It was a bit colder than we expected, but it warmed up nicely.  My time wasn't good, but that was alright. Beginning the day with a 10 mile run is always a nice way to start the weekend.

My run this morning went better than expected.  I was able to push myself, which was definitely the difference.  My time wasn't great, but it was better than my typical Sunday morning runs.

It was a bit rainy when we got started this morning, but fortunately nothing heavy.  I ran the first 6 1/2 miles with my friend and her daughter and then ran the rest on my own.  I actually decided to challenge myself, although it was brief.  Since I was on my own, I decided to add this one hill that I had noticed yesterday from a distance.  I don't think I realized how big of hill it was until then and figured since I felt alright and wasn't in a rush that I would give it a shot.  It was just over half a mile towards downtown with the uphill part on the turnaround.  I am happy to report that I made it up without issue, although I did take a short break once I got to the top.  Once again, a nice way to start the weekend.

I was able to get up and get out for my run this morning.  I thought that I was going to be rained on, but I made it without any issues.  My pace was slow, but I felt pretty good.
