Running Accomplishments:

I have completed 13 marathons, 13 half marathons and a variety of shorter distances.  My PR in the marathon is now 4:11:44, December 2009.  I finished my last half on October 30, 2010 and set a new PR by 48 seconds with a time of 1:53:48. Next race: Athens Half Marathon- Sunday, October 21st.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I would love to improve my times without stressing too much on race day.  I would like to become a fitter and stronger runner.

Next Half Marathon:  Silver Comet Half Marathon on Saturday, October 30th. Completed: Time of 1:53:48 PR!

Next Marathon: Soldier Marathon in Columbus, GA on Saturday, November 12th.  Completed: Time of 4:16:58
(better than last year)

Long-Term Running Goals:

It would be pretty awesome to qualify for Boston, and I am now closer than I was before, but I still  have to knock just over 25 minutes off my time.

Personal:

I am married, no kids, two dogs.  I am a schoolteacher who moved in June 2009 from Florida to Georgia.

I woke up feeling pretty good this morning.  By the time I actually got up, I realized that it was wet and cold outside and would take myself to the gym.  Unfortunately, by the time we got there, I wasn't feeling as great as when I first woke up.  I got in 4 miles and was happy about it.  I allowed myself to take a walk break about every  1/2 a mile.  Once again, I am just happy to be back running that I don't mind any walk breaks that I feel are necessary.

I started out running this morning, but unfortunately, had some unexpected pain/ cramping.  By the time I finished my 2nd mile, I knew that I was better off just walking.  I finished under an hour, which was fine considering.

It was cold this morning with temperatures in the mid-20's.  I ran with my friend and her daughter for the first 4 miles (her 18 year old daughter kept me going during miles 3 and 4).  After they left, I grabbed my music and went back the same way (forgot my watch at home so I wanted to go where I knew the mileage).  I felt a bit tired and realized that it may have had something to do with the first 4 miles.  I have been taking walk breaks during each mile for the last week, and didn't do so to start.  I made up for it while I was on my own, but overall, did run the majority of the time.

Unfortunately, I was not too pumped to get outside today and run (it took me too long to get out the door).  Thankfully, I got myself out there and got moving.  I was able to run most of the first 4 miles, but definitely did my share of walking during the last mile.  My goal this morning was 5 miles and I completed it.  I am not going to worry about time until my health is completely back to normal.  I am just happy to be running.

I decided to head over to the gym this morning since it was early, dark and cold.  I felt pretty good.  I did opt to walk after each mile to allow myself to catch my breath.

I went over to the gym this morning for my run.  I was able to pick up the pace just a tad and only dropped down to a walk at each mile.  I found that I didn't rest for nearly as long as I have been.

Some milder weather swept in which allowed us to run in shorts this morning.  It felt a bit weird as I am used to being in layers this time of year.  My friend and I were both feeling a bit sluggish this morning. We ran most of the distance, but did do some walking at times.  This is always a great way to start the day.

It is so nice to be able to get a full night's sleep and then run.  I am still better off running as soon as I wake up, but realized that my time was best spent staying in with my husband.  By the time we got up and walked the dogs, I was finally out the door.  It took a bit to get going, but I did alright.  For the first time in quite a while, I hit 6 miles on a Sunday.

For the first time in quite a while, I ran 5 miles at the gym prior to work.  I reminded myself that I really did have the time to complete my run (even though I am definitely running slower than I used to) and still get home, shower, dry the hair and go.  I felt good, although I did allow myself to take a short walk break after each mile.

I got up this morning as I usually do on Saturday to run with my friends.  After last weeks unusually warm temperatures it was back to freezing again.  I ran the first 6 1/4 miles with my friend and then the last 1 3/4 on my own as she had to leave.  The run was on the slower side, but that was fine.  I am still happy just to be out there and moving.

After getting a full nights sleep, I was able to get myself out the door for my morning run.  It wound up being a beautiful morning for a run.  It was cold, but not where I felt the need for the earband and the gloves, although the nose was definitely running with me.  I didn't push myself as my goal was just to complete at least 6 miles and run the majority of it, which I did.

I had the opportunity to sleep in today due to MLK Day.  That allowed me to get 6 miles in outside.  My pace is still slow, but I did run a bit faster than I did yesterday, even running up some of the hills.

I got up early and went to the gym for my morning run.  I made sure that I got at least 5 miles in.  It was a bit slow-mving for the first couple of miles, but I eventually got into a groove.

After attending my friend's daughter's wedding, I decided to sleep in a bit later and then go for my run.  It was a smart idea. I was still tired when I got up, but I was able to go about my routine and was running as the sun came up.  I never had to run alone in the dark and just enjoyed my music.  I ran the majority of the time and had one of my better runs since I had to take off.

I went over to the gym this morning for my morning run.   I felt tired at first, but wound up feeling pretty comfortable on the treadmill.  I was able to finally pick up the pace a bit and felt as though I made some progress.
