Running Accomplishments:

I have completed 13 marathons, 13 half marathons and a variety of shorter distances.  My PR in the marathon is now 4:11:44, December 2009.  I finished my last half on October 30, 2010 and set a new PR by 48 seconds with a time of 1:53:48. Next race: Athens Half Marathon- Sunday, October 21st.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I would love to improve my times without stressing too much on race day.  I would like to become a fitter and stronger runner.

Next Half Marathon:  Silver Comet Half Marathon on Saturday, October 30th. Completed: Time of 1:53:48 PR!

Next Marathon: Soldier Marathon in Columbus, GA on Saturday, November 12th.  Completed: Time of 4:16:58
(better than last year)

Long-Term Running Goals:

It would be pretty awesome to qualify for Boston, and I am now closer than I was before, but I still  have to knock just over 25 minutes off my time.

Personal:

I am married, no kids, two dogs.  I am a schoolteacher who moved in June 2009 from Florida to Georgia.

This was my last morning to sleep in before going back to work.  It was very blah outside with a bit of mist falling.  It was about 9:00am when I got outside, which of course is when our chances of rain was to hit 100%. The forecasters were correct as it rained on me the majority of time that I was out there.  Thankfully, it was never too hard.  Dressing properly also helped keep me dry for the most part.

It was our coldest run of the season as the temperatures were in the low to mid-20's.  I was dressed properly, but had issues with a few fingers going numb and hurting.  I made sure to go indoors a couple of times to thaw my fingers out.  Watch also stopped working just after mile 6.

After getting some much needed sleep, I finally got myself out the door for my run.  It was misty and not warm.  I ran slower than I would have liked, but was happy to gotten myself out the door and finished what I started.

I decided to run after work once we learned that school was going to be closed tomorrow.  I left work as soon as I could and went for my run.  The temperature was dropping and the wind was picking up, but I dressed properly which made it alright.

I finally got myself back to the gym as schoo was closed due to temperatures barely hitting double digits.  For Georgia, this is really, really cold.  It felt alright to be back as I was able to run my typical pace at the gym.  My only issue was that even though I was indoors, my nose was still running.

I was back at the gym this morning before work.  I felt better than expected, although I did consider stopping after 5.  I am very happy that I recognized that I would be able to get in 6 and still do what I needed to before class started.

I had a change of plans as it rained most of the night and was still doing so at 5:30 this morning.  My running buddy and I agreed to wait it out and go back to sleep.  I got myself up by 7 and noticed that the rain had stopped.  I was able to get dressed, eat and be out the door by 7:40.  I realized as I was starting out that I should really get some hills in as I am running the Hot Chocolate 15k in Atlanta in a couple of weeks.  Since I was running from home, I ran my other, much hillier route, which I haven't done in months.  I was able to add a new shopping plaza which had sidewalks and at 8:00 in the morning, not much traffic and a new school parking lot for additional distance.  This helped pass the time in a big way, as when I was done with this portion of my route, I only had just over 2 miles to go.  I lucked out as well, as the rain held off until my final couple of miles and was only part for the last few tenths.  My time wasn't anything special, but I ran the hills and felt good.  Overall, I nice way to start the weekend.

I got some much needed sleep this morning.  Once we finally got up and walked the dogs, I set out for my run.  I felt fine as the temperatures were cold, but not freezing.  It was actually a nice morning for a run.

I chose to sleep in a bit later and run after work.  I was able leave work with enough time to get myself running by 5:00.  The only issue I ran into was the rain that began about 1/2 mile after I started.  I told myself that if I became too cold that I would head home early.  Fortunately, I was able to make it through the whole thing.

I was back to the gym this morning for my final run of the workweek.  I felt pretty good considering the long work week.  I always feel as though the weekend is just around the corner after this run is done.

It was another cold Saturday run as the temps dropped below 30 degrees this morning.  Thankfully, I am used to it and dressed properly.  The only issue I had this morning was that once again, the battery went low and then ceased working during my run. I had to rely on another running buddy for the distance, which drives me a bit nuts.  I guess I need to see what is going on with the watch.

After missing yesterday due to traveling, I was back on the streets this morning. I felt alright and made sure not to walk much.  It was nice to be able to get some rest prior, which was much needed.

I went to the gym this morning and made sure that I used that incline function.  I raised it to 1.5% after the first 1/2 mile and then to 2% soon after to get myself ready for the 15k I am doing this weekend.

I was back to the gym this morning before my final run prior to the 15k this weekend.  I was able to get thier right on time and was on the treadmill soon after.  I made sure to raise the incline to 1.5% and 2% to get my legs ready for the hilly course.

On the way to the race this morning, I pulled off I-85 at the Turner Field exit.  It then took me an hour and 15 minutes to park my car instead of about 5-10 minutes.  It was awful and I was having stomach issues.  Thankfully, I went into this race with a positive attitude and just wanted to have a good run.  Once a finally parked my car (I did get a good spot), I had to hit the bathroom on more than one occasion.  It was also in the low 30's, my fingers were feeling numb.  Just prior to the start, I did start to feel alright.  I got into my corral and hoped for the best.  By mile .5, the stomach issues came back to visit.  I had to stop at mile 2 and 4 just to feel better.  Amazingly, when my stomach wasn't bothering, I was running really well.  I also had issues with my watch again as I received the low battery message early on.  I was amazed that it stayed on as long as it did (the whole race). Unfortunately, the stops cost me at least 2-3 minutes.  I was happy that even though I had issues, I continued to run strong. I met my friends at the end, got my cocoa and fondue (which I held off on for the most part, because of the stomach) and then headed back home.

Due to the wacky weather here in Georgia, I was off today due to snow and ice.  I went to the gym with my husband once we felt the roads were safe enough. Since I was running on his lunch hour, I was limited to just 3 miles.  The miles felt good as I watched the mess in Atlanta on tv.

Due to a two-hour delay, I was able to sleep in and ran once the sun came up ( I needed to be able to see the roads for ice).  It was 18 degrees and boy did it feel like it at first.  My fingers hurt for quite a while.  I also confirmed today that I will need a new watch as the battery on mine went again, this time right after mile 4.
