Running Accomplishments:

I have completed 13 marathons, 13 half marathons and a variety of shorter distances.  My PR in the marathon is now 4:11:44, December 2009.  I finished my last half on October 30, 2010 and set a new PR by 48 seconds with a time of 1:53:48. Next race: Athens Half Marathon- Sunday, October 21st.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I would love to improve my times without stressing too much on race day.  I would like to become a fitter and stronger runner.

Next Half Marathon:  Silver Comet Half Marathon on Saturday, October 30th. Completed: Time of 1:53:48 PR!

Next Marathon: Soldier Marathon in Columbus, GA on Saturday, November 12th.  Completed: Time of 4:16:58
(better than last year)

Long-Term Running Goals:

It would be pretty awesome to qualify for Boston, and I am now closer than I was before, but I still  have to knock just over 25 minutes off my time.

Personal:

I am married, no kids, two dogs.  I am a schoolteacher who moved in June 2009 from Florida to Georgia.

After sleeping in and taking the dogs on a short walk, I went out for my run to start the new year.  I started off a bit sluggish, but after about 3 miles, I was able to get into a good groove.

Due to cool and rainy weather once again, I went to the gym with my husband instead of running outside.  It took a good couple of miles for me to get into a good rhythem and not feel bored. Once I hit mile 3 or so, I was fine.  My husband extended his workout so that I could get my minimum distance in for the day.

Due to yet more rain, I went to the gym with my husband this morning.  I felt good while watching ESPN.  The only downside was that when I got started, I learned of the passing of Stuart Scott from ESPN.  I wound up spending the first few miles watching a lot of touching video and statements from people who worked with him over the years.  Needless to say, I never met him, but I do feel as though I don't remember SportsCenter and ESPN without him.

I decided to run a double today since I was fairly well rested and wouldn't have to work late today.  I ran my morning 6 miles at the gym.  I was a bit tired, but felt alright.  The second 6 miles I completed after work.  I was able to leave work at a decent time to get home, walk the dogs, change and get out the door.  I was a bit concerned about being able to get my miles in before darkness, so I found myself running a tad faster.  What was nice was that I felt good and had an average pace of 9:56/ mile, which I have not done in quite a while when running from home.

Due to some very cold weather coming in tomorrow morning and since I prefer to get an extra hour of sleep instead , I left work soon after school ended and came home to run.  The temperatures had already dropped into the upper 30's and it was windy.  Thankfully, I dressed properly and got out the door early enough so that I would get back before dark.  I felt pretty good once I was able to get going, but did have to fight the wind on a couple of occasions.  I finished with an average pace of 10:08/ mile pace.

I had a nice run this morning in really cold temperatures.  It was in the mid-20's when I started and dropped a few degrees after the 1st hour.  Thankfully, I had dressed properly and brought my music to keep me company.  I chose to run from home as my running buddy cancelled on me about 30 minutes prior to me leaving the house.  My legs felt really good, which I am assuming was due to the fact that I had taken the past two days off.  I averaged 10:06/mile which I was really happy about, especially for a long run.

I ran outside this morning after sleeping in and taking our dogs on a short walk.  It was still cold out with temperatures in the upper 20's, although it definitely felt warmer than yesterday.  I ran what I am not going to call my parking lot run as I my route includes two lots, one of which I run around twice.  I was able to maintain an average of 10:15/ mile.

I ran a double this morning so that I can sleep in a bit later tomorrow morning.  I ran 5.2 miles at the gym, which was a tad shorter than my goal, but I needed to get into work due to a meeting that I had scheduled.  I then ran 6.6 miles when I got home from work after walking my dogs. The weather was in the upper 40's and foggy.  I felt pretty good, averaging 10:06 / mile.

I ran this morning due to a meeting that I had scheduled after work.  I didn't think that I was going to get my 6 miles due to time constraints, but I squeaked it in. I ran at the gym the gym due to the darkness and cold.

I had a really nice run this morning as I ran near our home starting out as the sun was just coming up.  It was cold, but not nearly as bad as last weekend, with temperatures in the low-to-mid 30's while I was out there.  I brought my music with me and maintained an average of 9:59/ mile, which I was very happy about, especially for a long run.

I chose to run long this morning and will attempt to do so tomorrow so that I can get some extra sleep during the week.  I didn't get started until close to 11:00am after sleeping in and then walking the dogs.  I had to mentally and physically push myself during those last couple of miles, averaging 9:59/ mile again.  I was very satisfied with my performance, which included my music keeping me company.

With today being MLK day, I was able to sleep in, walk the dogs and then go for my run.  I chose to do another long run, to go along with yesterday's workout, so that I did not have to run a double today or 12 miles.  I had a nice run, averaging 10:04/ mile. I am very pleased with my runs these past 3 days.  I am also happy that my body went along for the ride without any problems.  The weather was cold when I started, but I could feel it warming up as I was out there.

It was cloudy and cold when we started our run.  I ran with my running buddy this morning for the first time in weeks.  It was really nice to catch up, but unfortunately, the pace was much slower than what I had been doing these past few weeks.  Once she finished, I put my music on and tried to pick up the pace for the final 2.85 miles.

I ran a double today as I completed five miles this morning at the gym and then another 5 when I got home from work.  It was windy and cold when I got home, but I persevered as it ws nice not to feel the need to run 6 miles as I have in the past.
