Running Accomplishments:

I have completed 13 marathons, 13 half marathons and a variety of shorter distances.  My PR in the marathon is now 4:11:44, December 2009.  I finished my last half on October 30, 2010 and set a new PR by 48 seconds with a time of 1:53:48. Next race: Athens Half Marathon- Sunday, October 21st.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I would love to improve my times without stressing too much on race day.  I would like to become a fitter and stronger runner.

Next Half Marathon:  Silver Comet Half Marathon on Saturday, October 30th. Completed: Time of 1:53:48 PR!

Next Marathon: Soldier Marathon in Columbus, GA on Saturday, November 12th.  Completed: Time of 4:16:58
(better than last year)

Long-Term Running Goals:

It would be pretty awesome to qualify for Boston, and I am now closer than I was before, but I still  have to knock just over 25 minutes off my time.

Personal:

I am married, no kids, two dogs.  I am a schoolteacher who moved in June 2009 from Florida to Georgia.

I ran on my own this morning as my running buddy was in Atlanta getting ready for the annual Peactree race.  I was up before 6 and out the door by 6:30.  I am so glad that I was up earlier as the temperature hovered around 70 with overcast skies.  I even felt a bit of rain, which cooled me off a bit.  I felt pretty good the entire time, which was nice for a 10 miler.

I got up earlier than expected and decided to go for my run before my husband and the dogs got up.  Even though I love sleeping in a bit later, my runs are much better when I just get up, eat and go.

I decided to run at the gym this morning for a change of pace.  I was glad that I did as I could feel the temperature rising as I walked my dogs this morning.   I felt good the entired time I ran, while breaking in a new pair of running shoes.

I had a nice 10 mile run on my own this morning.  I made myself get up so that I could get started before the heat wave of the day kicked in.  I felt good the whole time enjoying some music along the way.

I got myself up earlier than usual.  I did not use the alarm, but allowed my body to tell me that I should get up before the next heat wave of the day strikes.  I was going to stop after 8 miles, but felt good enough to complete 9.

I had to work this morning, which meant that I got up really early to run prior.  It was not light out, therefore my flashlight aided me.  I will say that for running just mainly in our neighborhood, I ran faster than I normally due for this particular run.  This gave me the confidence to run beyond 6 miles and complete 7 miles.

I actually completed 5 miles today, but only ran the first 2.  For the past few weeks, I have been walking about 4 miles on Tuesdays (but not documenting it on this site), but since I have to work tomorrow and will not be able to get all 8 miles in, I thought I would run two of them today.  I felt alright and just enjoyed the 3 mile walk afterwards.

Since I had to work again this morning, I ran early and from home.  It was kind of nice to run with the sun coming up.  It was definitely cooler or at least more comfortable than when the sun comes up.

My run this morning was intersting as today was the first day I was able to run with my watch again.  I finally got a replacement for mine and I decided to run with it and my iPod.  My watch had me running a bit faster and covering .2 miles longer, therefore that is the distance I am choosing to use.  I felt good on the run, as I ran near our home once again.

For the first time in a long time, I ran without my headphones.  I finally got a replacement watch as my other one stopped working. My iPod and headphones have not been an issue (my iPod has been great as I have used it to track my workouts the past couple of months), but I needed a break.  My timing was interesting as I didn't start running until 9:00am, which around here is too late.  It was so hot!  Thankfully, I made it through without any issues.

Due to a doctor's appointment this morning, I got up a bit earlier to run.  It was still so warm out, but at least I was out there before it became even worse.  I felt alright and had my music with me to keep me company.

I got up this morning and went for my first of three runs while visiting my family in NY.  The air felt fantastic.  The temperatures were in the mid 60's when I started.  I ran my old route past my grandmother's old place.  I added  a few streets so that I would my goal of 8 miles.  It was a really nice way to start the weekend.

I was so tired when I started this run, but thankfully I was able to wake up a bit and have a good day.  The weather was a tad warmer than it had been, but not bad.  It helped that it was so early as I started soon after the sun came up.  I was also fortunate enough to avoid most of the traffic issues.

I went to the gym this morning since I did not feel like battling the humidity.  Temperatures were close to 80 and I felt the gym would be a better option.  The first few miles felt slow, but I finally got into a groove about halfway through.  I wasn't sure if I was going to make it to my goal of 8 miles, but thankfully, I was able to do so.
