Running Accomplishments:

I have completed 13 marathons, 13 half marathons and a variety of shorter distances.  My PR in the marathon is now 4:11:44, December 2009.  I finished my last half on October 30, 2010 and set a new PR by 48 seconds with a time of 1:53:48. Next race: Athens Half Marathon- Sunday, October 21st.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I would love to improve my times without stressing too much on race day.  I would like to become a fitter and stronger runner.

Next Half Marathon:  Silver Comet Half Marathon on Saturday, October 30th. Completed: Time of 1:53:48 PR!

Next Marathon: Soldier Marathon in Columbus, GA on Saturday, November 12th.  Completed: Time of 4:16:58
(better than last year)

Long-Term Running Goals:

It would be pretty awesome to qualify for Boston, and I am now closer than I was before, but I still  have to knock just over 25 minutes off my time.

Personal:

I am married, no kids, two dogs.  I am a schoolteacher who moved in June 2009 from Florida to Georgia.

After a long night's sleep during our first night in Portland, ME, I decided to go to the hotel gym with my husband this morning.  They had three treadmills, therefore, I hopped on the first one and got started.  The run itself was fine, although it was quite warm.  I watched SportsCenter, although it was not the clearest sound in the world.

I was back at the hotel gym this morning after spending a long, wet day in Boston yesterday.  I was able to get in my 5 miles before spending a nice day in Portland.

I was back on the treadmill today at the hotel gym.  I was able to complete my 5 miles without dropping from sweat.  I did not bring an extra short sleeve running shirt for some idiotic reason and had to run in long sleeves today.  Thankfully, it was not a big problem.

I had the opportunity to meet with my running buddy this morning since she will be unavailable for the next couple of weeks.  The miles flew by as we caught up with each other.  We ran the first 6.35 and walked the last 1.05 miles.

I was back out running by my house this morning.  I decided to get out of bed when my dogs needed to go out.  It was cloudy out and I thought, what a good time to walk them and then run.  I had cloud cover for all but the last mile, which worked out well.  Unfortunately, I felt a bit sluggish out there.  I am not sure if it was me or the humidity, although it was probably a little bit of both.

I went out solo this morning as my running buddy is out of town.  It was me and my tunes hitting the pavement.  I was slow getting started, but then was able to pick up the pace.  The only negative from today was some serious chafing that I am now paying for.  Rule for tomorrow, wear BodyGlide!

I got myself out of bed by 7:00am, walked the dogs and got out of the door.  It seemed as though it would be cloudy, but the sun was out by the time I started.  I brought my music, but was down to one headphone working. I felt alright during the run, my legs feeling pretty decent.  The chafing is still there, but thankfully it didn't prevent me from completing my run.

My original plan was to take today off since I had to get to work early this morning (freshman program for four days).  After coming home and eating more than I should have, I chose to run,  The problem is that it was 95 degrees.  My plan was to run as long as I could and walk when necessary.  Thankfully, it went better than expected and I was happy with the 10:29/ mile pace that I maintained.

It has been a while since I have had to get up before 5:30am to run, but it wasn't too bad.  With the sun rising close to 6:00, I was able to run from home, staying in my neighborhood for the first 1 1/2 before venturing out.

So, I ran in the rain this morning.  I got up and hoped the rain would stop, which it didn't and the gym wasn't going to be open for a while. I threw a kitchen garbage bag over me to keep my top half dry and decided to just enjoy myself. I planned on cutting it short, if I felt the need, but I felt good the whole time, just quite wet.

I decided to run outside this morning after sleeping in and walking the dogs.  I was able to get out there before the rain started.  Thankfully, even the though it is humid, the temperature was still in the low 70's.  I was able to once again maintain just over a 10:30 minutes/ mile.

My running buddy and I met for what turned out to be a running/ therapy session.  It was much needed for her and I was glad to be able to be there.  We ran the first 8 miles and then walked the last 3.

I was back at the gym after a long drought from being there.  It was scheduled to be 99 degrees outside, so my husband and I thought it would be best if I went to the gym. They still do not have the television in the treadmills working so I tried something new by using the courses programmed into them.  It was a different way to go about it.  I was able to learn a bit about Auckland and Wellington, New Zealand as well as run through forests in Reinstagg, Germany.  It also threw in some unexpected hills, which wasn't bad.

I was able to get up at a decent hour and walk my dogs before heading out for my run.  I am glad that I got up a bit early as it was quite humid outside.  My legs were a bit tired from yesterday's workout, but I brought my music to help keep me going.

With co-workers of my husband coming by the house this morning, I thought that it would be best if I was able to complete my run, shower and get dressed prior to thier arrival.  After walking the dogs, I decided to run near home.  It was at least 10-15 degrees cooler today than it was the past two mornings.  I brought my music along once again to keep me company.  I felt fine although my time was nothing special.

Well, this was my last morning to sleep in before I go back to work, therefore I took advantage of it.  When I finally got  up, I walked the dogs and went for my run.  I left the music at home due to the chance of rain.  I didn't feel bad, but my legs felt heavy this morning.  It was not one of my stronger days, but I did hit my goal of 6 miles.
