Running Accomplishments:

I have completed 13 marathons, 13 half marathons and a variety of shorter distances.  My PR in the marathon is now 4:11:44, December 2009.  I finished my last half on October 30, 2010 and set a new PR by 48 seconds with a time of 1:53:48. Next race: Athens Half Marathon- Sunday, October 21st.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I would love to improve my times without stressing too much on race day.  I would like to become a fitter and stronger runner.

Next Half Marathon:  Silver Comet Half Marathon on Saturday, October 30th. Completed: Time of 1:53:48 PR!

Next Marathon: Soldier Marathon in Columbus, GA on Saturday, November 12th.  Completed: Time of 4:16:58
(better than last year)

Long-Term Running Goals:

It would be pretty awesome to qualify for Boston, and I am now closer than I was before, but I still  have to knock just over 25 minutes off my time.

Personal:

I am married, no kids, two dogs.  I am a schoolteacher who moved in June 2009 from Florida to Georgia.

8 Miles Running and 5 Miles WALKING.  I ran the first 8 miles, 4 of which were with a friend of mine that I ran into in the parking lot where I started.  I then walked 5 miles with a friend that I was actually meeting there.

After a decent night's sleep, I got up a bit earlier than I normally due for a Sunday, walked my dogs and went for a run.  It was a tad warm, but not awful, at least not early on.  My time was still way too slow, but I did pick up the pace the further I ran.

After a not so great night's sleep, I got myself up and went to the gym with my husband.  I was able to get 7 miles in, which I was fine with as I thought that I would be limited to six as I wasn't there on my own.

It was warm out this morning.  I could have gone to the gym, but once again chose to sweat it out outside.  This run was not pretty.  I probably should have run at the gym, but I do love being outside in the fresh air.

With it being our first full day in Michigan, I decided to just go to the hotel gym with my husband and walk on the treadmill.  After the first mile, I finally figured out how to use some of the functions on the treadmill and was able to complete a hillier walk to improve my workout.

I decided to run for the first time while on vacation in Michigan.  I had the opportunity to run outside around part of the Grand River, taking advantage of alot of bridges that are pedestrian friendly.  I completed a couple of loops, with a couple of extensions to increase the distance and then added a bit at the end to get to 7 miles.  The first loop was definitely discovery time as I was figuring out where I was going, while the second one seemed much more relaxed.

Since I ran yesterday, I went ahead and decided to walk this morning at the hotel gym.  I made sure that the treadmill was on an incline and increased throughout to get a good workout.

After sleeping in, I ran 7 miles around the Grand Lake this morning by our hotel.  I completed two sort-of-loops and added a bit extra in at the end to get the distance that I wanted for the day.  It was a bit warm as the temperatures were already in the low 70's, but the air wasn't too bad.

WALKING MILES!  I walked 3.5 miles this afternoon after walking my dogs close to a mile first.  My husband was actually with me suffering in the 90+ degree heat as I was ticked off and needed to get moving to calm down.  The walk defintely helped.

This wass my first run since returning from Michigan.  I had to run a bit earlier than I normally would do as I had a doctor's appointment this morning.  The one positive for getting up early was that the temperature wasn't too bad.  It was warm, but the air wasn't too thick nor was the sun beating down on me.  I still ran slower than I would have liked, but it didn't feel bad.

WALKING MILES!!  I went walking this morning for my 8th day in a row of working out.  My legs are a bit tired, but I was happy to walk with my music as I do enjoy the time.

I got up this morning and was able to get out the door soon after the sun came up.  As much as I don't always love getting up early, I do love to run at that hour.  I brought my music to keep me company.  My pace was of course, slow and I had the joy of experiencing what I beleive is pain due to shin splints (this is in addition to an achy knee that I felt the night before).  I will ice the area later and hope it feels better soon.

Once my dogs woke me up and chose to stay up so that I could get my run in before it becomes too hot.  I walked the dogs first and then set out the door.  I left the music at home and just went for a fairly quiet run.  Time was slow yet again and the shin splint pain was with me throughout the duration of the run.

I woke up this morning to my dog licking my face (this is how I actually wake up most mornings during the summer).  After walking them and eating a bit, I went out for my run. It was warm and the run was once again slow, but as usual it was good to get out there.  I left the music at home and ran with my thoughts.

I had the opportunity to run this morning from my parent's house in NY as I am visiting to help my father out.  The air was cooler than it has been back home.  I was happy to run faster than I have been as well.

After a lousy night's sleep at my parent's house, I still got myself up to walk.  I felt that even though I needed the rest, the walk was necessary.  I stuck with the neighborhood behind my parent's and enjoyed myself as I checked out homes I hadn't seen in quite a while.

I slept in the morning for some much needed rest.  After walking my dogs with my husband, I went for my run.  It was quite warm, but I did have to cut it short as my mother-in-law was visiting from out of town.  I left the music at home and just hoped for the best.

I went to the gym with my husband this morning instead of running outside.  I am trying to allow this shin splint to heal, but I really need to work out.  I chose to use the elliptical, which thankfully allowed me to workout pain free.

ELLIPTICAL MILES!!!  Since I've had shin splint pain, I chose not to run and use the elliptical, which I can do without experiencing any pain.  The only issue I had, was a not so comfy feeling behind the leg, but that fortunately went away.
