Running Accomplishments:

I have completed 13 marathons, 13 half marathons and a variety of shorter distances.  My PR in the marathon is now 4:11:44, December 2009.  I finished my last half on October 30, 2010 and set a new PR by 48 seconds with a time of 1:53:48. Next race: Athens Half Marathon- Sunday, October 21st.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I would love to improve my times without stressing too much on race day.  I would like to become a fitter and stronger runner.

Next Half Marathon:  Silver Comet Half Marathon on Saturday, October 30th. Completed: Time of 1:53:48 PR!

Next Marathon: Soldier Marathon in Columbus, GA on Saturday, November 12th.  Completed: Time of 4:16:58
(better than last year)

Long-Term Running Goals:

It would be pretty awesome to qualify for Boston, and I am now closer than I was before, but I still  have to knock just over 25 minutes off my time.

Personal:

I am married, no kids, two dogs.  I am a schoolteacher who moved in June 2009 from Florida to Georgia.

I ran at the gym this morning and took advantage of it being a pre-planning day at work.  I took my time and still got to work without being late.  I felt good as I watched some re-runs of Law and Order.

I slept in until about 6:30am and then went for my run.  It was slow, but I felt alright as I enjoyed my music along the way.  Temperatures were in the mid-40's with no change.

I was back at the gym this morning for my early morning run.  It was freezing outside, which made the gym extra appealing.  I almost stopped after 7 miles, but thought, I need 8, therefore, that's what I did.

I was tired and knew I would be in for a long day today.  The only issue with my run this morning, was that I essentially had to stop every mile to blow my nose.  If it is cold outside, the gym is also cold.  I had to stop after 7 miles, due to work purposes.

I met up with my running buddy this morning.  It has been over a month since we have run together.  We ran the first 6 miles, but then walked the rest.  My friend has been barely running.  I could have run the last four, but I decided that our friendship was a bit more important.  As long as I could keep moving, I was alright.  I definitely did not have the same feeling, but it was alright.

Due to snow and possible ice, I slept in this morning.  I chose to go to the gym after my husband told me he had slipped on some ice outside.  It wasn't the most interesting run, but Law and Order kept me company and my average pace was under 10:00 min/ mile. Therefore, I can't complain too much.

I had a pretty good run this morning.  I brought my music with me as I rant in 30 degree termperatures.  It took a couple of miles to really warm up, but after that point I was fine.  Once again, I felt as though my nose was running at a faster pace than I was today.

This run was not good, at least as far as pace was concerned.  My legs felt like lead for the first few miles.  My husband even walked the dogs so that I could get out there a bit sooner.  Sometimes this happens.  Thankfully, I was able to finish without any problems outside of being painfully slow.

I had a decent run this morning as the weather was perfect, cool and in the mid 50's.  I had my music to keep me company.  My legs felt a bit heavy this morning which surprised me as I had yesterday off.  Maybe using the elliptical Thursday night had an effect.

I ran from home this morning so that I could get an early start before my mother-in-law came in to town.  Unfortunately, my legs were so sore from a class that I took on Thursday.  My understanding was that the class was to focus on the upper body and core.  I knew something wasn't right as the first part had me doing a bunch of squats and lunges.  It is not that I minded the workout itself, but I didn't want sore legs, which is what I got.  I also ended up with the chafed arm as I did not put enough body glide on my arm from my armband.

I decided to run for the first time while on vacation in Michigan.  I had the opportunity to run outside around part of the Grand River, taking advantage of alot of bridges that are pedestrian friendly.  I completed a couple of loops, with a couple of extensions to increase the distance and then added a bit at the end to get to 7 miles.  The first loop was definitely discovery time as I was figuring out where I was going, while the second one seemed much more relaxed.

I got up this morning and was able to get out the door soon after the sun came up.  As much as I don't always love getting up early, I do love to run at that hour.  I brought my music to keep me company.  My pace was of course, slow and I had the joy of experiencing what I beleive is pain due to shin splints (this is in addition to an achy knee that I felt the night before).  I will ice the area later and hope it feels better soon.

This was a perfect morning for a run as the temperatures were in the upper 60's.  Our exchange student wanted to run with me, but it didn't go as he thought it would. This was a perfect day for a race.  Temperatures were in the 50's and I was able to sleep the night before.  My body did what it was suppose to do prior to the race, which allowed me to feel good throughout.  I was able to maintain a decent pace , although my legs were tiring the last couple of miles.  I definitely had to push myself up the hills, as there are many the second half, and remind myself just to run with "No Regrets," (my motto).  I was able to finish strong and loved seeing my husband at the finish line.  It was a really good day.  It wasn't a personal best, but I did improve from last year.

Due to pouring rain here, I ran at the gym this morning.  The satellite was out due to the weather, therefore I had to run using my iPod and the courses provided.  I ran through Germany and New Zealand this morning.

I met some friends this morning to run downtown under the Christmas lights.  I ran with them for the first 5 miles before heading out on my own for the final 5 miles.
