Running Accomplishments:

I have completed 13 marathons, 13 half marathons and a variety of shorter distances.  My PR in the marathon is now 4:11:44, December 2009.  I finished my last half on October 30, 2010 and set a new PR by 48 seconds with a time of 1:53:48. Next race: Athens Half Marathon- Sunday, October 21st.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I would love to improve my times without stressing too much on race day.  I would like to become a fitter and stronger runner.

Next Half Marathon:  Silver Comet Half Marathon on Saturday, October 30th. Completed: Time of 1:53:48 PR!

Next Marathon: Soldier Marathon in Columbus, GA on Saturday, November 12th.  Completed: Time of 4:16:58
(better than last year)

Long-Term Running Goals:

It would be pretty awesome to qualify for Boston, and I am now closer than I was before, but I still  have to knock just over 25 minutes off my time.

Personal:

I am married, no kids, two dogs.  I am a schoolteacher who moved in June 2009 from Florida to Georgia.

After a good nights' sleep and the walking of the dogs, I made my way to the gym.  It was a bit rough getting started, but once I got going, I was good to go.  As usual, now that it is warm outside, the gym is warm inside.

I ran from home this morning so that I could get an early start before my mother-in-law came in to town.  Unfortunately, my legs were so sore from a class that I took on Thursday.  My understanding was that the class was to focus on the upper body and core.  I knew something wasn't right as the first part had me doing a bunch of squats and lunges.  It is not that I minded the workout itself, but I didn't want sore legs, which is what I got.  I also ended up with the chafed arm as I did not put enough body glide on my arm from my armband.

This run was ugly.  My legs felt so heavy and still sore.  I just told myself to walk when necessary and not stress over it, which helped me get through the run.  I left the music at home.

Instead of going to the gym, I chose to run outside.  On a positive note, this run was better than the one I had yesterday and the soreness is finally gone.  The downside, I was still quite slow.  This is where going to the gym would have been beneficial.

WALKING MILES.  I went walking this morning to get moving, yet not pound the legs as much.  I originally planned to walk 4 miles, but wound up completing 5, which was nice.

I was tired this morning as I went out for my run.  I chose to run from home so that I could sleep in an extra 25 minutes.  It was slow, but felt alright. I ran today instead of Saturday as I am traveling out of town that morning to see family.

This was my first run since arriving in NY yesterday. The air felt a bit cooler than at home, although I still felt as sluggish as I normally do for a Sunday run (I am assuming this had to do with the sweets I had last night).  After a couple of miles, I was able to get into a good groove.  I had my music with me to keep me company.

Today, I enjoyed my second of two runs while visiting my family.  Today's run was sans music, but definitely felt stronger than yesterday.  I think that the air may have been a tad cooler.  There was defiintely more traffic on the road than yesterday, which was to be expected.

Today was my first run since returning from NY.  It was definitely warmer than I had been enjoying the past few days, but it was to be expected.  The heat didn't actually bother me too much, as my mind was racing all on its own.

I ran 8.5 miles, before walking 5.15 with a friend of mine.  The miles were not pretty as I just mentally was not with it this morning.  I did complete the distance and then had a nice walk with my friend.

I didn't get out the door until 9:00am, which meant it was warm out.  Mentally, my mind is still elsewhere, but I did perservere.  The first few miles were not pretty, but I did feel a bit stronger the 2nd half of the run.  I ran without music today, just me and my thoughts.

My original plan was to run at the gym, but I chose to run outside instead as the skies were somewhat overcast.  Unfortunately, after about 30 minutes, the sun burned off the clouds, making feel quite warm.  Thankfully, there was a bit of a breeze, which helped.  The run itself was okay, starting out slowly and picking up the pace the last few miles.

I decided to run outside when I probably should have gone to the gym.  The temperature didn't feel that bad, but the sun warmed things up very quickly.  I brought my music with me to keep me company, which helped, althought the last mile was a bit rough.  I am wondering if I was a bit dehydrated as I feel better now that I have had a bit of food and water.
