Running Accomplishments:

I have completed 13 marathons, 13 half marathons and a variety of shorter distances.  My PR in the marathon is now 4:11:44, December 2009.  I finished my last half on October 30, 2010 and set a new PR by 48 seconds with a time of 1:53:48. Next race: Athens Half Marathon- Sunday, October 21st.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I would love to improve my times without stressing too much on race day.  I would like to become a fitter and stronger runner.

Next Half Marathon:  Silver Comet Half Marathon on Saturday, October 30th. Completed: Time of 1:53:48 PR!

Next Marathon: Soldier Marathon in Columbus, GA on Saturday, November 12th.  Completed: Time of 4:16:58
(better than last year)

Long-Term Running Goals:

It would be pretty awesome to qualify for Boston, and I am now closer than I was before, but I still  have to knock just over 25 minutes off my time.

Personal:

I am married, no kids, two dogs.  I am a schoolteacher who moved in June 2009 from Florida to Georgia.

I felt alright this morning after sleeping in and walking the dogs before my run.  I was a bit tired, but it wasn't bad.  I told myself that I would be happy with 8 miles today.

Erik ard I arrived in Portland, OR yesterday for vacation.  Our hotel provided passes to the local 24 Hour Fitness, which we both decided to utilize this morning.  This gym reminded me as to how spoiled I am at our current facility.  The treadmill worked fine, but it was older and didn't have the built in television.  It was also quite warm where I was located.  Nonetheless, it was a good way to start the day as I ran my typical 6 miler on the treadmill.

I chose to take advantage of the cooler morning weather and check out Portland. I went towards the Willamette River first and enjoyed the surroundings as Dragonboat races were getting ready to begin.  The only downside of this part is that I managed to twist my ankle over some broken bricks that I thought I avoided.  I was able to walk off the pain and get back to running.  After completing my time at the waterfront, I ran back into downtown and explored the campus of Portland State University. which we learned the day before was the site of the largest Farmers Market.  

I noticed the ankle throughout the rest of the run, but it wasn't too painful.  It would stiffen up on me throughout the rest of the day, especially as we drove to and from Eugene, OR.  Fortunately, once I started moving it was alright.

I was back at the 24 Hour Fitness with Erik this morning just to make sure the ankle was alright, which it was.  I ran until he was finished with his workout, which allowed me to complete 4 miles in just under 40 minutes.

I decided to explore Portland again, this time running over the Steel Bridge and to the other side of the Willamette River.  I had no idea where I was going, but felt safe as I saw many other runners and cyclists.  It started to warm up while I was out there, but the air still felt good.  I had a really nice run this morning.

After returning home late last night, I got some sleep and attempted to run,  It was not pretty as the hills felt more like mountains this morning.  I didn't worry too much about it and chose to run when I could and walk when I needed to give my legs a break.

I met my running buddy this morning.  It is now hot and humid all of the time.  We ran the first 7 together and wound up walking the last three.

I had a decent run this morning considering the heat and humidity.  It was already in the mid 70's when I stepped outside at around 8:35 am.  I started slow, but at least managed to pick up the pace for most of the miles that I was out there.

I decided to head back to the gym this morning to get a change of scenery and mainly to get out of this heat.  It is not even noon yet and it is already in the upper 80's, with temperatures climbing to the upper 90's.  I started a bit slower than normal, since my pace outside has left little to be desired.  I felt pretty the good the whole time outside of some issues with my headphones.  SportsCenter kept me company throughout the run.

I ran from my parents home in NY this morning.  The weather was in the low 70's, but didn't feel bad. I started out sluggish, but was able to pick up the pace.  The only downside was the horrific driving that I had to witness.  I was very thankful to not have been hit by a car while I was out there and I was running on sidewalks.

I had a frustrating run this morning as my technology was driving up the wall.  My headphones would not stay in, which was annoying.  I had to hold my I-pod since the holder was in the laundry, but kept hitting the screen which would cause the song to repeat or skip forward.  I was ready to screen.  The only was to keep my sanity was to walk as my headphones for the most part would stay in place.  I wound up running the first four miles and walking the final four.  It was also really hot outside.

I had a pretty good run this morning as the air was a bit on the cool side.  The only downside was that I felt some chafing after about 6 miles.  Lets just say that the shower afterwards was not a whole lot of fun.  It looks as though I will need biker shorts for my runs for the next few days.

After a late, yet fun night, I got myself up with my husband this morning.  The air was still a bit cool this morning, which made my run feel that much better.  It is amazing how a few degrees and a little less humidity can make such a difference.

I debated about going to the gym this morning, but chose to run outside instead.  It went alright as it wasn't too awful outside.  My original plan was to walk today and run tomorrow, but due to an appointment tomorrow, I chose to run today.  I was concerned that my legs would be betat, but they held up okay.
