Running Accomplishments:

I have completed 13 marathons, 13 half marathons and a variety of shorter distances.  My PR in the marathon is now 4:11:44, December 2009.  I finished my last half on October 30, 2010 and set a new PR by 48 seconds with a time of 1:53:48. Next race: Athens Half Marathon- Sunday, October 21st.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I would love to improve my times without stressing too much on race day.  I would like to become a fitter and stronger runner.

Next Half Marathon:  Silver Comet Half Marathon on Saturday, October 30th. Completed: Time of 1:53:48 PR!

Next Marathon: Soldier Marathon in Columbus, GA on Saturday, November 12th.  Completed: Time of 4:16:58
(better than last year)

Long-Term Running Goals:

It would be pretty awesome to qualify for Boston, and I am now closer than I was before, but I still  have to knock just over 25 minutes off my time.

Personal:

I am married, no kids, two dogs.  I am a schoolteacher who moved in June 2009 from Florida to Georgia.

After sleeping in, I went out for my run.  It was not warm and drizzling.  By the time I hit my 3rd mile or so, the rain came down harder and it was not warming up.  Everytime I ran further from the house, it rained harder.  I beleive that it was sign, but I continued to ignore it until the end.  I decided to finally end things a little over 9 miles, since my legs were quite cold and wet. I don't regret it, unless I get sick sometime this week.  If that happens, then going to th gym would have been a better option.

I ran a double today, running the first five at the gym and the second five from home.  My legs felt dead for the second run, but I was able to run a short sleeve shirt and shorts, which was awesome.

I was able to get five miles in today, but the first 1.2 were on the elliptical as every treadmill in the gym was not working when I got there.  Thankfully, one of the guys that worked there figured out that the power had been turned off and waived me over.  My legs felt like jello for the 1st mile on the treadmill, but I didn't care as it was much better than the elliptical.

Since I am traveling to NY today, I had to get up early and get my run in around the neighborhood.  It was cold, but not bad and I had the opportunity to slowly see the sky light up as dawn approached.

I am not a big fan of Daylight Savings Time on day one.  I went out on my first run while visiting family in NY.  It was cold and I had to dodge some ice and snow on the sidewalks, but overall I felt good.  It actually wasn't any colder than it was in Athens yesterday morning.  I brought my music to keep me company.

It was nice to sleep in(as I am on Spring break) and then go for my run .  I once again had to dodge some ice and snow as I ran by my parents home in New York.  I felt good (I was even cheered on by a guy waiting at a traffic signal) finishing in under a 10:25/ mile pace.

It was nice to be able to sleep in after a not so good nights sleep.  My legs felt like dead weights, which I am assuming may come from the day of traveling that I had yesterday.  On a positive note, I was able to push forward and get my run in for the day.

I met up with my running buddy this morning for the first time in over a month.  It was rainy, but we chose to run anyway and had a nice therapy session.  We ran a little over 6 miles together, which was a bit slow, but then I ran the last 2 + on my own and attempted to pick up the pace.  It always feels good to get out the door and run on a Saturday morning.

I finally had a decent nights sleep before heading out the door this morning.  I walked the dogs with my husband and then grabbed my music for my run.  It took my legs a little bit to get loosened up, but I was finally able to get in a decent groove about 3-4 miles in to the run.

I ran a double today, 5 miles this morning at the gym and then 5.1 miles from home.  The run this morning was fine.  The afternoon run, not so much.  It was warm outside, which I am not complaining about, at all.  My legs and feet though, were beat.  It took at least a good couple of miles for them to somewhat feel loose.  I was just happy to complete the distance.

I was in bed last night by 9:00pm and still felt tired this morning (but that is due to the fact that I was up by 4:15 and woken up prior to that by one of my fuzzy buddies).  It took me a good couple of miles to get going before my legs felt they could move at a decent pace.

I had a pretty good run from my house this morning.  Temperatures hovered around 50 degrees as I was able to get started as the sun was rising.  I final average pace was 10:36/ mile, but that does include one bathroom stop.  I felt good when I was done and enjoyed my music throughout.

After sleeping in, I went to the gym with my husband as it was raining outside.  It took awhile for my legs to get loose, but once they were, I felt decent.  I thought I would only get 8 in, therefore, I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to complete over 9 miles.  ESPN kept me company for the duration of my run.

I ran a double today, running 5 miles at the gym this morning and then another 5.2 from home after work.  The run this morning was fine, but I was definitely tired by the time the afternoon session began.  My legs didn't necessarily feel too heavy, but my body was tired.  I was thankful to complete the distance.
