Running Accomplishments:

I have completed 13 marathons, 13 half marathons and a variety of shorter distances.  My PR in the marathon is now 4:11:44, December 2009.  I finished my last half on October 30, 2010 and set a new PR by 48 seconds with a time of 1:53:48. Next race: Athens Half Marathon- Sunday, October 21st.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I would love to improve my times without stressing too much on race day.  I would like to become a fitter and stronger runner.

Next Half Marathon:  Silver Comet Half Marathon on Saturday, October 30th. Completed: Time of 1:53:48 PR!

Next Marathon: Soldier Marathon in Columbus, GA on Saturday, November 12th.  Completed: Time of 4:16:58
(better than last year)

Long-Term Running Goals:

It would be pretty awesome to qualify for Boston, and I am now closer than I was before, but I still  have to knock just over 25 minutes off my time.

Personal:

I am married, no kids, two dogs.  I am a schoolteacher who moved in June 2009 from Florida to Georgia.

I did not get much sleep as we had friends in town last night, but felt alright though considering.  I went to Five Points to get my Gameday run in.  The rain was suppose to hold off for a couple of hours, but when I got into my car it had already started. I chose to go anyway and was poured on.  Thank goodness for garbage bags as they kept my core fairly dry.  The 12 miles felt pretty good as I danced around numerous puddles.  Unfortunately, my time was still terrible.

It was so nice to sleep in this morning.  Once I got myself up, I went out for my run.  I was thankful to not get rained on too much in comparison to yesterday's run.  My legs felt so tired for the first 2-3 miles, but finally loosened up after that.  My time was still way too slow.

I was back to the gym this morning for my run.  I chose to run 7 vs my regular 8 as I had some things to do and was going to be short on time this morning.  I felt pretty good along the way.

After sleeping in due to heavy rain (which I haven't done in I don't know how long), I decided to head to the gym for my run.  I don't care to run that far on the treadmill, but I thought that I would give it a shot so that I don't get drenched as I did last Saturday.  All I can say is Thank you, Law and Order.  I watched SportsCenter for an hour, lost interest and then found back-to-back-to back episodes. Those final 12 miles went by at a reasonable pace.

With the air nice and cool, I went out for my run this morning after sleeping in.  I left my music at home and just ran with my thoughts.  My time wasn't good, but I felt alright aftet the first couple of miles.

I decided to run from home this morning vs the gym to enjoy the cooler temperatures.  On a positive note, the air felt good and I felt fine running.  On a not so good note, my time was terrible.  I may need to re-think my half marathon goal time, with the AthHalf  now just under two weeks away.

After not nearly enough sleep, I was able to get in my 10 mile run.  With the AthHalf next weekend, I was hoping to get a good run in, which I did.  With today being a game day, I was also able to take in the sights on the  UGA campus as well.  I felt good as the air was cool, with temperatures in the mid-to-upper 40's.  Running nose weather is here.

After finally having a chance to sleep in, I went for my run. The air was still quite cool, but it did warm up as I was out there.  My pace was not as good as it was yesterday, but that is alright.  I am always happy to start my day with a run.

I went to the gym this morning for my run.  I was hoping for 8 miles,but due to work issues and mainly time, I stopped at 7.  I felt good once I warmed up as it was cold outside.

I ran at the gym this morning. I thought that I would only get 7 miles in, but as I was running, I chose to run the 8th mile since I felt good and am constantly sacrificing something for work.  I even took up the incline from 1 to 1 1/2, then 2 from miles 6 to 7 1/2.

With the Athens Half tomorrow, I chose to participate in the Alzheimer's Walk that was taking place.  Donating and participating in this walk is the least that I could do with my mom suffering from this cruel disease.  It was an emotional beginning, but the walk felt good.  My only concern was feeling any possible soreness from the walk, since I haven't walked more than a mile in quite a while.

I got up this morning and felt pretty good.  After I was dressed, I decided to put on a temporary tatoo that I had purchased and realized as soon as it was on that I put it on upside down. I was about to get mad and then just decided to laugh it off and just relax.  I did not want to go into this race stressed and told myself not to get upset about too much of anything this morning.  I ate and then drove down to the start.  My timing was good as I was able to get a good parking spot and was able to warm up and use the bathroom without much of a wait.  To relax before the race began, I went into my desginated corral and just decided  to dance to the music.  I was the only one in there outside of the kid carrying the corral sign.  I may have looked stupid, but I just didn't care.  The race started soon after and I ran the first mile in 8:45.  The next five miles were all under 9 minutes.  The rest of the miles were as slow as 9:20 during mile 6 and as fast as 8:40 something, due to the many hills located on the course after mile 5.  I felt good as I counted down the miles.  I didn't know what to anticipate timewise as I have trained, but the long runs weren't anything special.  I was very happy with my performance. The weather also helped as it was about 60 degrees and overcast for the duration of the race.

WALKING MILES.  I went to the gym this morning for my run. I got on the treadmill, started to run and dropped down to a walk as my legs said no.  To make up for the lack of running and to feel as though I did not waste my time getting up, I walked at a 15:00 min/mile pace and raised the incline after each mile.

After unsuccessfully attempting to run yesterday,  I was ready to try again this morning.  I thought that I would just get the legs loose with a short 3 miles.  I chose to run from home and was glad I did as it felt good to get moving again.

I got together with my running buddy this morning for our run.  We ran the first 6 miles, albeit slow.  We then walked the last 3.33 miles as my friend was not physically prepared to run any further.  I could have run on my own, but walking and catching up with my friend was more important.  I was also still only 6 days removed from the AthHalf.
