Running Accomplishments:

I have completed 13 marathons, 13 half marathons and a variety of shorter distances.  My PR in the marathon is now 4:11:44, December 2009.  I finished my last half on October 30, 2010 and set a new PR by 48 seconds with a time of 1:53:48. Next race: Athens Half Marathon- Sunday, October 21st.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I would love to improve my times without stressing too much on race day.  I would like to become a fitter and stronger runner.

Next Half Marathon:  Silver Comet Half Marathon on Saturday, October 30th. Completed: Time of 1:53:48 PR!

Next Marathon: Soldier Marathon in Columbus, GA on Saturday, November 12th.  Completed: Time of 4:16:58
(better than last year)

Long-Term Running Goals:

It would be pretty awesome to qualify for Boston, and I am now closer than I was before, but I still  have to knock just over 25 minutes off my time.

Personal:

I am married, no kids, two dogs.  I am a schoolteacher who moved in June 2009 from Florida to Georgia.

I had a nice run at the gym this morning.  After the first mile, I was at my 10:00 minute/ mile pace.  After each mile after that, I moved up one level speed-wise finishing at around a 9:05 pace.  I felt good the entire time and was done in under an hour.

I definitely felt tired when I woke up this morning.  I needed to get an earlier start and a friend of mine was kind enough to join me at 6:00 am.  Our run was nice and pleasant.  We just had girl talk on the menu.

We are now on our second day of vacation.  I ran at the hotel gym for the first time.  After some technical problems with the provided tv, I just put on my iPod and ran.  My goal, if I was feeling up to it was to run 7 miles, which I did.  This was a really nice treadmill to run on.

I decided to mix it up a bit and ran a tempo run this morning.  I warmed up to a 10 minute pace for the first mile and then ran a 9:30 minute pace for the next four miles.  I then finished the last mile by taking up the pace one level every quarter of a mile.

I was back on the treadmill this morning for another run.  I decided that after the first mile that I would take up the pace every 3/4 of a mile.  This allowed me to work harder than normal, but not be too aggressive with the pace.  For the last mile, I took the pace up a level every quarter of a mile.

I was back at the hotel gym for my final run there.  I continued what I had started earlier in the week, by taking up the pace after each mile or so.  It was once again a pretty good workout for the treadmill.

Today was my first run back since being on vacation.  It was so humid out.  I ran with my good friend and we talked and ran and walked a bit.  We both felt pretty rough today, even walking a bit of the last mile.

I was able to get myself up and out of the house by 8:00am, which is good for me on a Sunday.  Unfortunately, it was already hot and humid outside.  My run wasn't awful, but it wasn't great either.  I was happy to get through it.

My run was awful this morning.  I felt stressed and was hot.  It was one of those runs where all I wanted to do was walk.  After 2 miles, I felt as though I had run 4.  I did finish, which was good.  No need to discuss time or pace.

I ran at the gym this morning, which was a good thing.  It was brutal outside.  Unfortunately, the gym didn't feel that much cooler.  At least I ran faster than I would have outside.

I did not sleep well last night.  Our A/C broke the other day and I was a bit anxious about some stuff going on.  After lying there for a good hour, I decided just to get up and run (I needed to get up early anyway).  It was definitely cooler than it would have been if I had run later, but it was still so humid.  We are anticipating another day of triple digit temperatures with the mornings in the upper 70's and humid.  I did feel better than I did on Monday, which was good.

 When I got home, I walked each dog close to a mile.

This was day 1 of 3 runs that I will be doing in New York while I am visiting my family.  I started off a bit slow, but felt alright.  Physically, I was fine, but mentally I was down.  Fortunately, I was able to think of some positive thoughts and wound up having a really good run.  I finished in just under 1:41, which is really good for me.  I felt good and had a nice weather to go along with it.  It was a nice way to start the weekend.

I got myself up a bit early so that I could take advantage of the early morning weather.  I wasn't sure as to which route I was going to take until I got out there.  I ran the first 4 1/2 miles the same as yesterday, but then made a change to try something new out.  This route had a fill that I had forgotten about and a few more cars than I had anticipated.  All in all, it was a good run.

I am heading back home this afternoon, so this will be my final run for this trip to New York.  Since it is Monday, which means traffic, I thought that I would do my best to stick to the sidewalks today.  Fortunately, I was able to find a 3 mile out and back that allowed me to do this.  I was used to running the first 1 3/4 out, but not the final 1 1/4.  It worked out just fine and allowed me to have a nice start to my day.

I was planning on running tomorrow, but switched it to this morning since I now have a job interview in the morning.  I felt pretty good out there even though I didn't get going until 8:30 am.  I finished in under 1:03 for the first 6 miles, which is good for me these days.  I also broke in a new pair of running shoes, which was nice.

I wound up having a pretty good run with my friend Elizabeth this morning.  We have both been extremely stressed out this summer.  It was good for the both of us to get out there and complete 10 miles.  Part of me didn't care at first, but was very happy to do it.  We changed up the route for the last two miles which was a nice change of scenery.  I felt much better when we were done, even though it was quite warm out.

When I woke up this morning it was still early, but I just wanted to get out the door and run.  I was able to do so while my husband and dogs slept.  I brought my music with me and tried to just clear my  head.  My goal on Sundays has been to run 7 miles, therefore completing 8 made me very happy.  It was nice to be done on a Sunday at 8:30 in the morning.  I felt decent out there, which means that I can't complain.

I was able to get out the door before 8:00am, which was good.  It was humid, but I believe that I felt a breeze at one point.  I wouldn't say that I felt bad, but I wasn't great either.  I am just down and it is definitely affecting my running.  These days I am happy just to get through my run, which is what I did today.

I decided to head over to the gym this morning for a change in scenery.  My run was fine.  I once again moved up a level about every mile or so and then went up every .25 miles for the last mile.  I felt good and finished under an hour.

Needless to say, due to the lack of sleep, I didn't feel so great when I got going this morning.  My husband and I went out last night and had a really nice time, therefore this was totally my fault, but worth it.  The run actually made me feel better once we got going.  It was very humid this morning, but running and good conversation made it go by.

I was able to get out of the door at a decent hour, but it was still humid.  I started out at a somewhat decent pace, but unfortunately I started to fold about half way through.  I finished, but it wasn't pretty.  I was not in the best mental state.
