Running Accomplishments:

I have completed 13 marathons, 13 half marathons and a variety of shorter distances.  My PR in the marathon is now 4:11:44, December 2009.  I finished my last half on October 30, 2010 and set a new PR by 48 seconds with a time of 1:53:48. Next race: Athens Half Marathon- Sunday, October 21st.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I would love to improve my times without stressing too much on race day.  I would like to become a fitter and stronger runner.

Next Half Marathon:  Silver Comet Half Marathon on Saturday, October 30th. Completed: Time of 1:53:48 PR!

Next Marathon: Soldier Marathon in Columbus, GA on Saturday, November 12th.  Completed: Time of 4:16:58
(better than last year)

Long-Term Running Goals:

It would be pretty awesome to qualify for Boston, and I am now closer than I was before, but I still  have to knock just over 25 minutes off my time.

Personal:

I am married, no kids, two dogs.  I am a schoolteacher who moved in June 2009 from Florida to Georgia.

After staying up late to watch football, I slept in and got started much later than I needed to.  I didn't get out the door until close to 10:00am, which meant that it was too humid.  I should have gone to the gym, but I since I run most of my runs there, I wanted to run outside.  On a positive note, my pace did pick up, although I did run a flatter route.

It was so nice to sleep in this morning.  My run started slowly, but thankfully I was able to pick up the pace a little bit.  It was warm, but breezy as I was able to run outside today.

I was back at the gym this morning after a nice long weekend.  My legs were a bit tired, but I held up alright.

Considering how tired I was this morning, I had a pretty good run.  Once I was able to get myself going, I was alright.  I finished the first 6 miles in just over 58 minutes.

I felt sluggish at first, but I am assuming that was due to the lack of sleep the night before.  My friend and i ran 9 miles together, which is more than she has run in months.  We ran our version of the game day run as today is the first home game of the year for UGA. We even ran a couple of laps around the UGA track.  I finished the last mile plus on my own and even included a couple of additional laps around the track.

After getting some much needed rest and after an exciting day of Georgia football, I was able to get up and get outside for my run.  I was hoping the dogs would sleep in, but no such luck.  I walked them for close to a mile before I was able to get started.  My time running outside was not great, but I found myself feeling fairly positive.

Another Monday, another day back in the gym.  I was able to get there as the place opened.  Once I was able to get started, I was able to get in a decent groove.

I felt pretty good for my fourth day in a row of running.  I was able to pick up the pace a tad during mile 5, which allowed me to speed things up for the final mile plus.

It was a beautiful morning to run as it was about 60 degrees when we started.  The sun then rose to clear skies.  I ran the first 7.3 miles with my friend and then ran the last 3.1 on my own.  I plan on signing up for our local half marathon, which means I will need to start running a heck of a lot better than I am doing now.

I missed my workout yesterday due to a really long day and what would have been only 5 hours of sleep.  Hopefully, I will feel up to making it up later in the week.  Even though I took yesterday off, my legs did not feel great at first.  Fortunately, I did eas into my run and complete my goal.

Fortunately, I was able to get myself up this morning and get over to the gym.  This allowed me to make up for missing Monday.  I felt alright, albeit a bit tired.  I was able to pick up the pace for the last couple of miles.

After watching our friends son last night, I still decided to get up and run.  I was tired and my run reflected the fatigue.  I ran with my friend the entire time, which made for great conversation.  The only downside is that I could have picked up the pace after the first few miles.  We walked way too much.  I am getting ready to sign up for the Athens Half, which means I have about a month to prepare.  The air was also a bit more humid, which was due to the rain we are expecting this afternoon.

I changed things up this morning and decided to get my lesson planning in before my run.  I was motivated to work and thought that this would be the best idea.  I got myself out the door a little after 11:00am and had a pretty decent run.  I guess the sleep and the stress that the lesson planning was pretty much done helped.  The air temp wasn't nearly as cool as it was earlier, but there was still a bit of a breeze.  I finished in 1:02, which for running by my house, was alright.

I was able to sleep for an extra 25 minutes today before heading to the gym.  I was a bit tired at first, but I was able to get going and finally get into a groove.  I finished in just under 59 minutes, which was fine with me.

It was a beautiful morning for a run.  It was sunny (when the sun came up) and cool (upper 50's). I am officially in training as the Athens Half is just a few weeks away.  I wanted to hit at least 11 miles, which I was able to do.  One of the cool parts about today's run is that College Gameday is in town.  We ran to where they were set up and stayed briefly as they went on the air.  We then came back around to see it again.  My run itself was alright.  I felt good, but need at least one really good long run before the race.  I will plan to go 12 miles next weekend.

After sleeping well and working for a little while, I was able to get out for a late morning run.  Fortunately, it was perfect weather for a run.  I was able to run with a fairly clear head and was able to push myself.  I ran my typical somewhat hilly route near our house and finished averaging a 10:10 pace.  I was content.

I decided to run outside this morning instead of at the gym.  It went alright, but not as well as I had hoped for as I was at least a minute slower per mile than I was yesterday.  Since I was running from home, it was hillier than if I had gone to the gym.
