Short-Term Running Goals:

I would love to improve my times without stressing too much on race day.  I would like to become a fitter and stronger runner.

Next Half Marathon:  Silver Comet Half Marathon on Saturday, October 30th. Completed: Time of 1:53:48 PR!

Next Marathon: Soldier Marathon in Columbus, GA on Saturday, November 12th.  Completed: Time of 4:16:58
(better than last year)

Long-Term Running Goals:

It would be pretty awesome to qualify for Boston, and I am now closer than I was before, but I still  have to knock just over 25 minutes off my time.

I met up with my group this morning for our annual Tingle Jingle 5k.  This is not an official race, but just annual get together just before the Christmas holiday.  Unfortunately, it was cold and raining.  It was tolerable to run in, but I would have been soaked if I had walked in it.  Instead, I walked up and down one of the nearby parking decks a couple of times, about 6 levels.  We were also meeting there when everyone got back for a warm drink and a snack.

Since I was unable to get my walk in as I had hoped for, I went to the gym with my husband in the early afternoon.  I walked while he pumped up.  It was only a couple of miles, but it was better than nothing.

It felt good to get outside and walk.  As usual I needed the exercise.  I felt really good them entire time.  I go back to my doctor tomorrow and will hopefully be given the okay to start running again.

I finally got the okay to run yesterday from my doctor.  It went better than I anticipated.  I thought that I would run part of the first couple of miles and then would have to walk the rest.  I was able a good part of each mile, averaging about 12:30 minute/ miles.  I walked the hills and anytime I felt as though I needed to walk (it was only 32 degrees, therefore I needed to catch my breath at times).  I listened to my music and just tried to enjoy this experience.  Hopefully, I will be able to do the same tomorrow.

I met up with a couple of friends for my first attempt at a long run in over a month.  I made it through most of the first 6 miles with just a bit of walking here and there, mainly when I felt tired.  We then walked the last couple of miles.  I felt really good about how I did.  Needless to say, I was not worried about pace at all, just about being able to run.
